Are Bumper Brackets Needed for Support when Installing the CURT Hitch #13086 on a 1986 Toyota Pickup
Question:
I would like to install this hitch on my 1986 Toyota pickup. The truck does not have a rear bumper or rear bumper brackets and I need to know if the hitch relies on the bumper brackets for support of any kind. I recently purchased and returned a Reese hitch from a local auto parts store that was supposed to fit but it required a bolt throught the rear bumper brackets so would not work in this application. Thanks for the info, if you could provide a link to, or attach, the installation instructions in your reply I would appreciate it.

You can install the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch, # 13086, on your 1986 Toyota pickup. The installation instructions, see link, detail installation on vehicles without a rear bumper. The bumper brackets are not needed for installation or support.
Some items you may want to consider to complete your towing setup are the etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit, # 989900, and the Trailer Wiring Harness Kit, # C59496.
