Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the storage trays, the scuff panel, the interior side panel, and the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

The wiring harness snaps in with oem style connectors to the taillights, which I was impressed by. I wrapped my wiring in plastic conduit so it wouldn’t be exposed to the elements behind the bumper cover or chafe against any sharp or rough edges. The provided butt connectors have plastic sheathing which made creating a watertight seal difficult. I used regular metal connectors with quality heatshrink with glue on the inside for a perfect seal. The instructions say to run the wire to the battery underneath the car, but I would never do that on any vehicle I intend to own for a long time. Exposing a power wire to the elements and debris under the car is a bit how any engineer would prefer. Luckily, it is not exceedingly difficult to run it inside the car. I went through a grommet on the panel behind the rear driver side seat above the spare tire well, and then followed the washer hose all the way to the engine bay. Piercing the grommet on the upper left side of the firewall took a few tries to get the routing just right, but now all the wiring is protected in the car, will never be seen and will not cause an issues down the road. Perhaps easy to install, but not so simple to install in the safest, close to factory standards manner.

Picture is how I routed wiring from front left fender behind strut tower to battery terminal.

Everything is still working great no problems THANKS

2019 Subaru Impreza

The website videos are incredibly helpful when installing this harness! Especially since they tailer it to the vehicle that I own! That takes time, money, and consideration for their customers. Everything I needed was in the kit. And when tested after I installed it, it worked perfectly. No issues!

by:
2019 Subaru Impreza

Easy enough to install with simple to follow instructions. The connectors for the wires fell apart on use, but a simple enough fix with electrical tape. The kit was missing a few screws that the instructions said were needed, but I would definitely order again, easiest wiring harness install I’ve ever done.

2018 Subaru Impreza

I purchased a hitch and everything I needed to install and use it from etrailer, and everything is working great! I had it professionally installed and they had everything they needed, including all for the lighting harness if I ever tow a small trailer. My car was a 2018 Subaru Impreza and being a newer car I was a little nervous that the hitch I got would work without, well, without a hitch. And it went on perfectly. Thank you etrailer! This was my second hitch purchase with all supplies and for a second time, I could not be happier with the pricing, the info on the website (which is AMAZING) and the quality of the products. Congratulations etrailer for another wonderful experience!

This lighting kit was relatively easy to install. I used an online video for the how to instructions. My 2017 Subaru Impreza hatchback was slightly different as I had to access the light plug by pulling the light fixture. Great product and Etrailer was extremely fast delivering the items I ordered. I highly recommend Etrailer.

Product arrived on time and in good condition.
Product
is of high quality and the instructions were good but you better have some experience installing things like this or you could get in real trouble, a video would have been helpful.

  • Towing Capacity and Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon
I looked up the towing capacity for your 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon and it looks to have a capacity of 1,164 to 1,325 lbs depending on how it's equipped. But you need to verify that in your owners manual. For a hitch then you'd want the Draw Tite hitch part # 76209 for a great hitch at a great price, or for a hitch that will be mostly out of plain sight we have the EcoHitch part # 306-X7350 which is also a fit. It only has the hitch opening visible below the rear bumper. The install is more...

If you have the 5-door wagon 2018 Subaru Impreza you would want the part # 76209. If you have the Sedan instead you would want the part # 24960. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 118629 for the Sedan or part # 118744 for the wagon.

  • Trailer Indicator/Turn Signal Shows Power With Volt Meter But No Power When Bulb Is Installed
It sounds like there is a ground wire issue on your light. If you are connecting the ground portion of your Multimeter # PT29ZR or Test Light # PTW2993 to the trailer ground and that is how you are getting power, there may be an issue with the ground from the bulb socket to the trailer ground. The issue could be in the socket itself or in the ground wire that is running to the connection on the frame. You can try running a jumper wire from the ground socket on the light to a good ground...

  • Can a Class I Hitch be Used to Tow Triumph Motorcycle and Trailer With 2018 Subaru Impreza
In order to determine if you can pull your motorcycle trailer and Triumph bikes you will need to know the tongue weight and trailer weight of what you are towing. You will also want to consult the owners manual of your vehicle to find the towing capacity for your 2018 Subaru Impreza. For the Curt # C11465 the maximum gross towing weight is 2,000 lbs and maximum tongue weight is 200 lbs. I reached out to the manufacturers and the Curt # C11465 is a fit for your 2017 Subaru Imprezza as well as the 2018 model year. See attached installation details. The Draw-Tite # DT24959 is also a confirmed fit and fits 2008 to 2018 models (see installation details) as well as some Crosstrek models. This hitch mounts in a slightly different location than the Curt hitch and does not require the security strap # 18050. I personally would go with the Draw-Tite Hitch and avoid that strap...

Starting with the trailer hitch for your 2019 Subaru Impreza Wagon I highly recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 76209 because of its robust weight capacities indicating a stronger unit than the alternatives and its 2" receiver, which opens the door to more accessories (bike racks, cargo carriers, etc) if you ever choose to use the hitch in this way down the line. The T-One # 118744 installs on your 2018 Subaru Impreza by teeing into your vehicle wiring behind the turn signals. It receives power via the black wire that is routed to the battery on your Impreza. If you fail to connect the power wire then your trailer lights won't be able to draw enough power to function. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.
