Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza Towing Trailer

Question:

What all would I need to tow a very lightweight pop up camper with my 2018 Subaru Impreza wagon? I know I need a hitch but is that it?

You'll need a few things to tow a small trailer with your 2018 Subaru Impreza including a hitch like you mentioned. You'll also need wiring to operate the trailer lights, a ball mount to hold the hitch ball that the trailer connects to and a hitch ball that the coupler of the trailer attaches to. For a hitch I recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 76209, which is a custom fit for your vehicle, because it has a 2 inch hitch opening which means it has great towing capacities and because it has a 4-way mounting bracket built into the hitch tube. I attached an install video and a picture of what it looks like for you to check out as well.

For trailer wiring the best option is the Tekonsha part # 118744 because it's a custom fit which means there'd be no splicing to install the kit and because the converter box on the unit is our most reliable option we have.

Since you wanted to do some towing and you'll need hitch balls and ball mounts you would also need something like the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
