On your 2003 Volvo V70 there should be 3 factory weldnuts on each side of the frame to which the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12318 you referenced gets bolted. With that being said the factory tow bracket on the passenger side, which needs to be removed during installation, may be blocking one of these.

Basically what you can do is get someone to help you hold the hitch up into the position it will be when installed. If the fascia interferes anywhere then that would be where you would need to trim the fascia on your 2005 Volvo S80. This is the old use-the-hitch-as-a-template method. It is also possible that you may not have to trim. In some cases the hitch will just push the fascia up a little.

The only way to determine which wire is the reverse wire on your XC90 is to have someone put the vehicle in reverse and for you to test the wires with the Cordless Circuit Tester # PTW2979. We simply wouldn't have any way of knowing specific wire functions on any given vehicle.

Most trailers do not utilize the reverse circuit. In this instance we did not hook up the reverse lights to the 7-way connector. You can easily tie the reverse lights into your 7-way connector. the yellow wire on the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, part # ETBC7, will get tied into the reverse circuit on your vehicle. Since the carrier, part # 63153, goes in at all you definitely don't have a 1-1/4 inch hitch. I'm thinking there's something behind the hitch's receiver tube that you're making contact with coming out the back end of it. Is the receiver tube quite short with something right behind it that's blocking the carrier?

The Curt Trailer Hitch, # 13559, on the 2004 Volvo XC90 will not interfere with the spare tire. The spare tire is removed before the hitch is installed to allow easier access to the mounting locations on the vehicles frame. After the hitch is installed then the spare tire can be put back in place.
The installation video of the hitch on the 2010 Volvo XC90 did not show them removing the spare tire or reinstalling it after installation.

My contacts at Curt and Draw-Tite haven't seen a vehicle with the automatic hitch feature (which is what I'm assuming you're speaking of), so I couldn't say with total certainty if its presence would interfere with the installation of a Class III hitch like the Stealth # SH87FR, but from the videos I've seen online, the auto hitch sure looks like it would interfere with the installation of an aftermarket hitch to me.
