Locating Factory Weldnuts on 2003 Volvo V70 to Install Curt Trailer Hitch # C12318
Question:
Hi There! I understand according to the product page this should fit my Volvo V70 just fine. However when I look at the instructions and the product description its clear that the hitch screws in with 3 bolts on each side 6 total. However giving the underside of my v70 a quick inspection, my car has 2 bolts on each side, not 3. Does this make sense? Again my car is a 2003 Volvo V70. Am I missing something here? Thank you!

On your 2003 Volvo V70 there should be 3 factory weldnuts on each side of the frame to which the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12318 you referenced gets bolted. With that being said the factory tow bracket on the passenger side, which needs to be removed during installation, may be blocking one of these.
It's also possible that the factory weldnut has enough road grime and debris built up on your Volvo that it's difficult to see during a quick inspection. You might try and clean the frame rails up a bit to see if you can locate the missing bolt hole that the hitch would line up to.
We haven't heard of this particular vehicle not having all the necessary weldnuts for this Curt hitch, but if you look again and it's truly not there, we do also have the Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch # 36297. Unlike the Curt hitch, this model only uses two factory weldnuts for installation.
It is still confirmed to fit your vehicle and will install in more or less an identical manner but it just doesn't use that 3rd weldnut for attachment. I have attached the written instructions that you can look through as well.
