How Do You Know where to Trim Fascia for Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2005 Volvo S80
Question:
Is there a guide on how to trim the fascia on my car? the manual says that step one requires me to Trim a notch into the bumper fascia lip about 3 1/4inch wide to provide clearance for hitch receiver tube.A diagram would be helpful.

Basically what you can do is get someone to help you hold the hitch up into the position it will be when installed. If the fascia interferes anywhere then that would be where you would need to trim the fascia on your 2005 Volvo S80. This is the old use-the-hitch-as-a-template method. It is also possible that you may not have to trim. In some cases the hitch will just push the fascia up a little.
Manufacturers eventually started including diagrams showing where to trim but this hitch design and its instructions pre-date the inclusion of diagrams.
