Why Won't Pro Series Cargo Carrier Fit into Factory Hitch of 2017 Volvo XC90
Question:
I bought the subject carrier and we have a 2017 Volvo XC90 with a factory installed hitch/ towbar. It has a 2inch ball holder. It is definitely not a 1.25inch receiver. We are able to slide the cargo carrier into the hitch receiver only part way before it becomes extremely difficult to advance further and align the holes for the pin. What options do I have? It doesnt seem like it should be that hard to the carrier into the receiver. I fear it could get stuck if I force it too much. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Since the carrier, part # 63153, goes in at all you definitely don't have a 1-1/4 inch hitch. I'm thinking there's something behind the hitch's receiver tube that you're making contact with coming out the back end of it. Is the receiver tube quite short with something right behind it that's blocking the carrier?
If there's nothing blocking the carrier from going all the way in the only other thing I can think of is that that shank or hitch receiver tube is bent. This might be hard to confirm because it wouldn't take a lot to cause an issue. If it is the case forcing the rack into the tube may actually straighten it out but it also could cause further damage or get the carreir stuck like you mentioned.
A good test for everything is to try and insert another 2 inch hitch accessory into your Volvo's receiver and see if if fits. Or try putting the cargo carrier onto another vehicle with a 2 inch receiver.
