7-Way Trailer Connector Bracket and Providing a Maintenance Charge To Camper Battery While Towing

Question:

I have a 2003 Honda Pilot. I have an adaptor to go from the 4 flat to 7 pole wiring to match my pop-up camper. I am looking for a bracket to mount the 7 pole to the back of the vehicle. Also, I want to wire the Pilot to provide 12V power to the camper charge the battery while down the road. Thanks,

For a bracket that will allow you to mount your 7-Way trailer connector, we have mounting brackets such as the Mounting Bracket and Installation Hardware # 18138.

Depending on how you are mounting your 7-Way connector, you may also be interested in a No-Drill Mount Bracket, which is available in Long # C57202 and Short # 18140.

While there is no way for the battery on your 2003 Honda Pilot to charge a dead battery on your pop-up camper while you are towing, a 12V power wire will allow you to provide a maintenance charge to the camper battery. To run a 12V power wire, you will need 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot), a 40 amp breaker # 9510, and a ring terminal that will fit over your Pilot's positive battery terminal post, such as # 44-5356A. The wire will run from the battery's positive terminal to the 40 amp circuit breaker, from the circuit breaker the wire will need to be routed under the vehicle back to the 7-Way connector.

As long as there is a wire to connect the camper's 7-way connector to the camper battery, the 12V power wire will provide a maintenance charge to the camper battery so the battery will not be dead when you arrive at your camping spot.

For a way to charge your trailer's battery while the camper is in storage or at the campsite, a battery charger such as the NOCO Genius # 329-GENIUS5 is a great option. I've attached a review video of this charger for you.
