Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender for 2" Hitches - 375 lbs - MPG907

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (153 Customer Reviews)

My Ridgeline is only 7.5' deep with the tailgate down which make it dicey to load more than 8' goods. The Malone extender makes carrying longer items a breeze. I have carried many 12' lumber loads with confidence. It assembles and breaks down rapidly with no tools necessary. And all of the pieces easily fit into the in-bed trunk. Great product!

by:

I bought this to haul long boards in my Nissan Armada. I have used it numerous times in the first year. Definitely an excellent purchase!

by:

The Malone truck bed extender is "just what the doctor ordered." I am very pleased with the product. As advertised, I can assemble it in minutes. The price is right. And the functionality of my Nissan Frontier bed has been greatly improved.

by:

Use it for both lumber and steel (14'-16') in F150 with 6.5 foot bed. Quick set up and breakdown. Storage is a little awkward due to size but no too bad.

by:

Great product. Assembled right out of the box and loaded one heavy 17' canoe, two 18' kayaks, and lumber to build the storage rack. Carried them about 400 miles with no problem at all---no swaying, no metal fatigue, no stress (except for tailgating 18 wheelers). Highly recommend this carrier.

by:

This extender works great for a kayak and also for hauling lumber.

by:

This would be a five star rating, but I had to run an M8 X 1.25 tap through one of the anti-rattle holes to get the knob to attach. The rack is top notch, and the anti-rattle features are not required but certainly are a plus. I installed this on a 2022 Toyota Tacoma after buying another brand that would not go high enough to be level with the bed. Buy the Malone Safety Flags while you have free shipping from etrailer.

by:

Very simplistic design and has versatility. I did not get to try yet, but I have no worries about it.
Depending on your distance of travel, you may want to use bolts in place of the quick pins.

by:

Good setup but needs padding on cross bar and would be nice if you could collapse the secondary support bar when it is in the vertical position to allow access to your tailgate. Had some sort of material in the primary tube that still has not come out. Easy to assemble.

by:

I love this product do to its easy operation and the multi ways you can adjust it.

Its sturdy enough to handle almost anything.

Great tool to have if loading long items in your truck

by:

This guy is awesome... Just opened my own garage door service biz and this will allow me to easily move door panels. I'll be running plywood from the tailgate past the tee for decking so panels don't flex during transit. Awesome affordable option for me... better than a $3500 trailer at this point.

by:

Purchased to enable transport of 30 ft ladder.
Very
pleased with this option. In addition, should be useful in moving sheets of plywood in my Tacoma.

by:

Outstanding truck extender. Easily assembled by a 63-year-old petit lady. Added an accessory roller to easily slide a ten-foot plus kayak. Easy to disassemble into two separate parts for easy storage. Even though extender includes traffic safety reflector tape, it does NOT include a traffic safety flag. Can’t wait to use it to transport my fishing kayak this summer.

by:

I have owned this extender for one year +. I use it to carry two 12.5 ft. Kayaks. The extender does its job, safely and securely carries the yaks all over the Midwest. The only modification I made was to the "goalpost uprights" I cut a swimming noodle to length, cut a slit to allow the noodle to fit over the uprights. The uprights are a hard point of contact, and needed something to protect the kayak. Quality product.

One year later and still rollin. Very satisfied with quality of the product.

by:

Limited use so far, but it seems well thought-out. Much quieter than I expected.

by:

Value driven purchase -- IMO eTrailer is "the" online retailer -- the Malone extender is EZ to assemble, and works as advertised -- shipment via UPS with no issues -- three days from online order to doorstep-- as we say down south, "ya can't beat it with a stick" -- great email follow up from real person & not a third party marketing company -- eTailer is my "go to" for truck accessories -- cheers //

by:

Easily extends the bed of my truck to safely transport a 14’ kayak. Easy to setup and use.

by:

Sturdy enough with the clamp on. Fit my Honda Ridgeline perfectly.

by:

I have used this more than I thought. Works great and is solid. You need a wrench for two bolts to install or remove, but it's an easy install.

by:

Wobbles pretty badly and there is no straightforward way to secure It in a stable upright position

by:

etrailer processed and shipped the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender on the same day ordered and it arrived 3 days later. Assembly was a breeze and it appears to be just what we needed for carrying long loads in our Tacoma bed or going vertical with the extender and using it for loads across the roof or over the tailgate. We look forward to putting it to use with 10 ft kayaks, a 17 ft canoe and all sorts of lumber and other long items. It is heavy duty, well built and flexible in how to orient the extender for a given load. The parts are a bit loose fitting so expect a bit of rattling, but that may better than tight fitting pieces that could be difficult to assemble. It comes with a brace that fits over the top of your hitch and over the 2x2 tube of the extender to firmly stabilize it in place at the hitch. My bet is the load on the extender will tighten the other components so rattle may only be noticeable when in the hitch without any load on it. So far, it appears to be just what we needed in terms of flexibility of use (vertical and horizontal) and in the load it will handle (375 lbs).

by:

I love the Malone truck bed and roof load extender! As a cancer patient, I have lost a lot of strength recently, and loading my heavy kayak alone was too much. With this, I can either load it inside my Toyota Highlander or turn the extender to load it on the roof rack. Now I am able to get out without having to bother people for help.

by:

Excellent product for the price!

by:

Great product at a good price. Very solidly built and easy to use with a 2" inch hitch receiver. In my case, I need an extension when it's the vertical position, but that's only a few bucks more. I've used it in both horizontal and vertical configurations to haul lumber, fencing and plywood using my mid-sized SUV. It's not the same as having a pick-up truck, but for the handful of times I need to carry stuff like that, it's a lot less expensive and takes up next to no space when stored.

by:

Works great in my 2013 F-150 5.5ft bed. I like how the bottom bar is angled upward, this prevents it from scraping on my steep driveway.
I ordered some extra DOT red/white reflective tape from Amazon to add to what was already there.
The anti-wobble clamp bracket is a big plus, not every bed extender comes with one of these and those that don't have it rattle back and forth everytime you go over a little bump.
My main use is lumber and my kayak.

  • Can the Erickson Big Bed Load Extender Be Used As a Roof Extender
The Erickson Big Bed Load Extender part # EM07600 is a bed extender only. That said, we have plenty of options which are both a bed extender and roof extender like the Erickson Big Bed Junior part # EM07605 or the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender part # MPG907.

The Draw-Tite Sportframe # 24920 is confirmed to fit your 2017 Honda Fit and will work well for you. You can also use the Brophy # HTAD. Then you will be able to install the Malone Load Extender # MPG907. You'll also need to be mindful that the adapter will decrease the hitch's tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. So at the most your tongue weight will be 100 pounds. And the weight of the load extender will take up some of this. So you'll need to be careful you're not overloading...

  • How To Carry 2 Kayaks On 2018 Silverado 2500 While Pulling 5th Wheel Trailer
You will first need a roof rack on your 2018 Silverado 2500 single cab (work truck). I recommend the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack - Round Bars - 48" # 298-SX6000B. Then you will need a kayak carrier such as Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # MPG115MD which can accommodate 2 kayaks. This may work for you without anything else, but since you won't be able to extend the kayaks over the bed, the kayaks may overhang over the front of the truck too much. To solve this, I recommend...

  • Can You Add a Third Crossbar To a 2012 Honda Pilot
I do have an option for you for more support but we don't have any three crossbar setups for a 2012 Honda Pilot. Instead, you will need to add a hitch mounted load support like the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender for 2" Hitches part # MPG907 which will offer the support you need for longer loads like a canoe.

  • Truck Bed Extender for 2007 Honda Ridgeline
The Curt # C57WR truck bed extender isn't a vehicle-specific item, so Curt doesn't test fits on specific vehicles. If the inside of the tailgate opening (jamb to jamb) is 60-1/2 inches, the bed extender would fit. However, this extender is designed for full sized trucks, So it's almost certainly going to be too wide to fit. If you were needing the extender for longer items such as lumber, a hitch mounted load extender like part # MPG907 could be a good choice for you, assuming you have...

  • Best Solution to Carry a Kayak on a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
I can't say that I've ever seen anyone try to use a truck bed extender like the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Load Extender - 2" Hitches - 375 lbs # MPG907 on an SUV like your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, but I suppose it's possible as long as extreme care is taken to secure the kayak into the vehicle. I would consult with your local laws on this to be sure that you're not violating any laws that might pertain to items extruding from your vehicle. The best solution would be to use a roof rack...

This extender comes with a 375lb load capacity but you'll still want to verify the tongue weight capacity of your truck's hitch. So, as long as you've got a 2" receiver like the Curt # 13138 on your 2001 Ford Ranger you'll be able to use the Malone # MPG907 without any issues. We don't have a system that is quite as precise a fit as what you are asking for a bed extender on your Nissan Frontier. The bed extender we have that is most likely to meet your needs is the Malone Axis Truck Bed and Roof Extender # MPG907. This is only because of the goal post style carrier to give you that increased height. Along with the 7 inches of vertical adjustment to meet the bed of your truck. You would still need to have a cross support for this functionality on the extender.
