Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.

With a fan-mounted heat exchanger unit, you can be sure that there will always be optimum airflow for your engine oil cooler no matter where your cooler is mounted or what sort of environment you are traveling through. Couple that with the highly efficient, plate-fin core - wherein finned chambers provide increased surface area, allowing superior heat transfer with minimum pressure drop - and you have a truly effective heat-exchange system.

This system is ideal for late-model, electronic overdrive transmissions in which ensuring proper cooling and pressure maintenance is of the utmost importance.

The fan is nice, the brass compression barbed fittings did not work. They leaked from both threads. I paid for fancy with a quickness 2 day shipping, took 5 days. I’m just glad I wasn’t too much in a hurry to cool my dads transmission for his road trip.

by:

Everything was included to install the cooler and instruction sheet is useful. Hardest issue is where to mount. No leaks so far. Should help trans temps while towing.

Great product, awesome price and very easy to install

The hitch opening of both Curt hitches you mentioned are going to sit right under the bumper of your 2013 Chevy Silverado. Check out the picture I attached that shows the # C15323 installed on a truck like yours. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. Be sure you don't exceed the towing capacity of your truck that is stated in the owners manual as well.

  • Best Transmission Cooler for Off-Roading in a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser in Year-Round Warm Climate
The Class rating applied to transmission coolers is to help simplify choosing a cooler for a vehicle. Basically you would think about it in terms of a hitch class rating. So for example if your 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser has a Class III hitch then a transmission cooler shown as a Class III is a good match. But ultimately you can use any cooler that fits in the intended mounting location. Derale transmission cooler # D13503 is a very popular option. It is a Class III but if you want something...

  • Compatibility of Derale # D13950 Atomic-Cool Remote Mount Transmission Cooler with 2012 Yukon XL.
As long as you have the available space in the area where you want to install the cooler, you can certainly use the # D13950 Atomic Cool Transmission Cooler on your 2012 Yukon. Keeping the transmission cool when you're moving in stop-and-go traffic is exactly what this particular cooler is designed for. The # D13035 you already have is the recommended fitting. You'll want to install the cooler in the return line heading back to the transmission, whether that line's coming from the radiator...

  • Where to Install the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit # D13950 on a Truck
What's great about a remote cooler with a fan like the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit # D13950 that you referenced is that it can basically install wherever it will fit since the fan will provide all of the necessary airflow to cool the fluid. Here is what Derale says about mounting location for this cooler: The purpose of a remote mount cooler is to be able to mount the cooler away from the front of the vehicle therefore not blocking airflow to the radiator/condenser....

Using the GM-specific snap-in radiator adapter fitting # D13035 will make installing a transmission cooler such as # D12733 easier because with it you would not have to cut and flare any lines for installation. The core on this cooler has 6 AN fittings. This cooler does not come with a thermostat but one can be added using # D13021. You will also need a mounting kit such as # D13002, hose clamps such as # D13008, and hose # D13017. The other option is a remote cooler that comes with these...

Typically a Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13503 is all you are going to need to help keep your transmission cool when towing. A cooler with fan like the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler # D13950 is typically a better option if you are only towing in areas where you constantly deal with stop and go traffic. I would not worry about having braided lines as even the factory hoses on your 2011 Ford F-150 are not braided. You should also consider adding a...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2012 Chevy Silverado Towing 6,000 lb Boat
A transmission cooler is a really great idea for your Dad's truck as the temperature range you mentioned is too hot to allow a transmission to survive very long. I'd recommend the Derale part # D13504 as it's a plate fin cooler which is one of the most efficient styles and is larger at 11" Wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep so it's going to do a really great job reducing the temperatures to a much safer range. For an adapter to fit the truck's radiator to make the install of the cooler easy...

  • Do Inlet And Outlet Ports Need To Be Mounted In A Particular Direction On Derale Cooler, # D13950
The ports on the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan, # D13950, do not need to be mounted in any particular direction. The transmission cooler is not directional so having the inlet on the top or bottom does not matter. You will want to choose the inlet or outlet port location by what will make your installation easier. Since this cooler comes with a fan-mounted heat exchanger you can mount the exchanger wherever you want because the fan will provide optimum airflow.

As far as functionality there isn't one place that is really better than another for the Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit # D13950 on a 2017 Nissan Armada. Basically anywhere there is space for it will be a good location. On modern vehicles space in the engine compartment can be at a premium though so you will want to check ahead of time prior to installing a cooler. • Which Derale Remote Transmission Cooler for 2010 Chevy Silverado 4.8 Liter D13950 or D13960
Both the Derale transmission coolers you mentioned would work great installed on your 2010 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8 liter V8. The part # D13960 is the more efficient style of cooler as it has a stacked plate whereas the # D13950 is a plate and fin cooler which is still really effective but not quite as effective as the stacked plate. Now both of these are easily more powerful than you'd need to get the job done so if you go with either you'll have very cool transmission fluid that will...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder 4X4 SE and 6K Trailer
For a trailer weighing 6,000 pounds I recommend going with a stacked-plate cooler because they will be the most efficient and will provide the best cooling compared to the other cooler options. For a kit you can use # D13403. For the best cooling you can get a cooler that comes with its own fan like # D13950. This will provide the optimum cooling no matter where the unit is mounted. I have included a link to our FAQ article on transmission coolers for you.

Based on the information you have provided, which I greatly appreciate, a standard supplemental cooler should be sufficient for your needs. Mounting a larger cooler directly behind the grille (in front of everything else) such as # D13504 should get you to the ideal range. If your transmission fluid was reaching 195 degrees when towing your fifth wheel trailer, it would be a good idea to either upgrade your factory added cooler or add an additional transmission cooler because this temperature could increase if you are towing on in hot weather or through hills where the engine and transmission will be working harder than on flat ground.
