Derale Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan # D13950 Recommendation for a 2002 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I find that most of my heating comes when in stop and go traffic so I was considering replacing my factory cooler with a unit that has a stat and fan. would it be advisable IF I have the space to mount this in the place of the factory one. My concern is would the fan on the front of the unit impede airflow at highway speeds? Or when climbing a hill when you dont quite get to highway speeds.

The Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit w/ Fan # D13950 that you referenced should work well for you. It will provide you with excellent airflow in traffic and would not impede airflow at highway speeds. This fan and cooler combination was designed to do exactly what you are trying to do so it would work very well for you. However, I would recommend you keep your factory cooler and run this cooler as a supplemental cooler. You would want to route the transmission fluid first through your factory cooler and then to the # D13950.

You could run the # D13950 on its own without the factory cooler, but for optimum cooling I would recommend running both coolers.

I attached an FAQ on transmission coolers for you to check out also.
