The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13503, will provide extra cooling to help keep your transmission at normal temperatures when towing.

Whether or not any cooler will provide enough cooling depends on many factors specifically related to your vehicle and trailer setup. I did a bit of checking on the 2006 Nissan Titan towing capacities and found that the 2006 Titan is rated for somewhere between 9,200 lbs and 9,500 lbs Gross trailer weight, properly loaded and ready to travel, if it is equipped with the towing package from the manufacturing facility. If your vehicle is equipped with a dealer installed towing package or an aftermarket package the gross towing capacity drops to between 6,500 lbs and 7,400 lbs.

All this means that if the gross weight of your trailer, properly loaded and ready to travel is within the rating of your specific vehicle the trailer suspension is in good shape, and the vehicle suspension transmission and engine components are in good shape, the transmission cooler will help keep the transmission in the normal operating range. If any of these components is not within specification for your vehicle or operating properly, the transmission cooler may not be the solution to your problem.

I have provided drawing showing where the transmission cooler will perform the best and how it is typically installed for you to review.

It looks like your setup is well within the limits of your vehicle. Adding a fan to the front of your OEM transmission cooler would be an option, we have several fans and wiring kits that you could use, see link. You would need to determine the size of fan that would work for you and how to install it. For this application you might use the Derale 10 inch Dyno-Cool Curved-Blade Electric Fan, # D18910, and the Derale Single-Stage Thermostat Fan Control with Push-in Radiator Probe, # D18738, to install the a fan with your OEM transmission cooler. Make sure the fan is installed with air flow in the same direction as your vehicle fan. I would recommend adding a secondary transmission cooler with a fan. We have kits that will install basically the same as a standard cooler without a fan and then you would need to wire the fan to the vehicle. The Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13950, would be a great choice. I added a drawing showing how to install these coolers and typical wiring for you to view, see link. This fan mounted unit can be installed anywhere you like as long as airflow to the fan is not restricted. When wiring the fan you will connect the power wire to a switched 12 volt source, and then run the ground wire to one wire on the in-line thermostat and the other wire from the thermostat to a good chassis ground.
