No issues at all.

Worked out awesome. I bought this for a buddy for his used truck. The previous owners for what ever reason took it. Plugged it in and worked flawlessly.

by:
2004 Nissan Titan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

The transaction went great. Delivered on the time I was told good product

by:

It fit perfect and was literally plug and play.

by:

I had to replace the socket in my truck after I forgot to disconnect the plug when setting up my camper 1 year ago. Since then, I've connected the camper 35 times and pulled it over 6,000 miles. I have had no issues at all with the new socket.

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

2000 Toyota Tundra

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

1995 FordF-250 Super Duty

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

by:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:
2015 Audi Q7

  • Troubleshooting Brake Controller Wiring of 2005 Chevy Silverado Not Working with Brake Pedal
For your generation of Chevy truck the issue you are having is almost always the third brake light fuse being blown. When this circuit is dead it also kills the brake controller wiring circuit that shows voltage when the brakes are applied. Try pressing the brake and seeing if the third brake light above the cab comes on and replace the fuse as needed.

  • Troubleshooting Right Turn/Brake Lights Not Working on 2006 Silverado 7-Way
By testing the 7-Way on your Silverado you have at least ruled out the trailer wiring as a potential issue and can focus all your attention on the truck. You did say that you already checked this, but I do recommend verifying that the fuses and relays for the trailer right turn/brake lights are present and in good condition under the hood as well as the fuse block on the driver's side edge of the instrument panel. The specific fuse locations will be listed in your owner's manual. If all...

Since you do not have a factory trailer wiring you will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # C55317. If you don't tow a trailer with brakes all you would need at this point to convert a 7-way is # 37185. This has a 4-way and 7-way at the connector. If you do have a trailer with brakes instead of the # 37185 you would want to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller...

  • Troubleshooting 2002 F-250 Towing Horse Trailer with Working Exterior Lights but No Interior Lights
It sounds like the interior lights on your trailer are powered through the 12 volt circuit on your Ford's 7-way. So, start by testing to make sure that pin is active. On a standard RV style 7-way, this is located at the 1 o'clock position. I've attached a diagram for visual reference. Using a tester like # PK12741 would be the easiest. You could also simply have a case of corrosion on/in the connectors that is preventing the +12V auxiliary power from reaching the trailer. If this is the...

  • Troubleshooting Electric Lockout on Trailer with Surge Coupler
Your description of your trailer setup indicates that your surge coupler has an electric lockout feature to allow you to reverse the trailer without the surge brakes engaging. Some surge couplers use a manual lockout but yours has a solenoid with two wires (ground and hot) that take in the truck's reverse light signal; this closes the solenoid so no hydraulic brake fluid pressure can reach your brakes when you back up. Somewhere in your wiring you are losing your connection to the Silverado's...

In your camper's 7-way wiring the tail light circuit is separate from the brake light circuit. Each is carried on different pins/wires in the 7-way. If you refer to the linked image you'll see the function-to-pin assignments for a trailer-side 7-way plug. What they have in common is their ground and this is what I suspect is the issue. Some lights will used a wired ground while others will use the lights mounting hardware to make the ground connection. If I correctly understand the testing...

When you are installing a trailer connector like part # PK11893, you can run into issues due to the wires that the vehicle manufacturer used have different colors. The wire that runs from the battery would normally run to the 12 volt accessory circuit of the 7-way which is the pin in the 1:00 position. • Trailer Reverse Lights Not Working
A 7-way can sometimes be used as an auxiliary 12 volt source. Did you wire the 7-way yourself or did it come with the connector? If it came with the 7-way already on it I'm guessing that pin was not used for reverse lights so you may need to wire it to your truck's reverse lights. Also make sure the wire is properly seated in the connector and that wire isn't somehow damaged. You may need to use wire # 10-1-1 to replace or re-wire as needed.
