7-Way to 5-Way Adapter to Tow a Boat Trailer with a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 Diesel

Own a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 durmax. I can wire around it but was wondering if there was a plug and play connector that I could buy so I dont have to cut and wire everything

Congratulations on the new boat. As the old joke goes (stop me if you've heard this one) the 2 best days of a boat owners life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat!

If your 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you will just need an adapter to plug in the 5-Way flat connector from the trailer. You can use adapter # A75TB.

If your truck does not have the factory 7-Way, you would first need to install # HM40975 and then use the adapter. I have linked a video showing installation for you.

The 5th function on the 5-Way flat is usually for an electric reverse lockout on the trailer so it needs a functioning reverse light circuit to activate.
