2004 Nissan Titan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

Worked out awesome. I bought this for a buddy for his used truck. The previous owners for what ever reason took it. Plugged it in and worked flawlessly.

I had to replace the socket in my truck after I forgot to disconnect the plug when setting up my camper 1 year ago. Since then, I've connected the camper 35 times and pulled it over 6,000 miles. I have had no issues at all with the new socket.

2016 Porsche Cayenne

It fit right up to my 2016 Porsche Cayenne diesel. A very simple installation.

by:

It fit perfect and was literally plug and play.

by:

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

Perfect OEM quality!!!

Still working after a year. Performs as expected. Easy to install.

2000 Toyota Tundra

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

by:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:
2015 Audi Q7

The right adapter, fits Audi q7 factory tow package. 1/3 the price of Audi part. Fast shipping, etrailer is the place for reasonably priced trailer parts.
Thanks George

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring on 2004 Chevy Silverado Where Taillights Work Incorrectly
You have some wiring shorts that need to be cleaned up. It sounds like your best option is to go over all of the trailer wiring on the truck. I'd suspect that if you inspected the back of the trailer wiring connector you'd see quite a bit of exposed wire shorting out to each other. Cleaning all of that up will most likely take care of the issues. It is most likely time for a new 7-way connector with the part # PK11893 as yours may be in need of replacing if it looks damaged.

  • No Trailer Stop or Turn Lights On a 2011 Toyota Tundra
Have you checked the relays in addition to the fuses? If not then this would be the next thing I check. You can swap a relay out that you know is working for one that is not to do the above. I will say that the vast majority of cases with this issue will be attributed to a blown fuse so make sure to inspect the element inside the fuse carefully as it is not always obvious it is blown. Once this is done your next best option would be to trace the wires back while checking for breaks. If...

  • Will Trailer Connector PK11893 Work for a 2005 2005 GMC Sierra 1500
One thing you might want to check is if your factory connector and your trailer wiring is still grounded well. Follow the ground wire from the plug and back and make sure that it is still firmly grounded, and that no pinched or exposed points are touching metal. You will want to check the ground on the trailer connector itself, as well as on any lights or electric trailer brake magnets. • Brake Output Wire is Not Attached to 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2005 GMC Sierra
If you are talking about the blue wire at the back of the 7-Way trailer connector, it will need to attach to the back of the 7-Way in the 7:00 position. You should be able to take apart the 7-Way to expose where the wires attach. You will then attach the wire to the 7:00 position. Sometimes there are connections under the hood that you will also need to make to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to an FAQ article that covers everything. I have also linked a series...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lighting that is Slightly Dimmed with Some Vehicles
The difference between the SAE standard and RV standard trailer wiring is only the wiring colors and not functions so most likely what you have is a slightly insufficient ground on the utility trailer wiring which is preventing it from consistently working with all of the vehicles mentioned. First easy to thing to do is take sandpaper to all of the pins on the trailer wiring connector to improve contact there. • Testing Options for 7-Way of Trailer for Function
We have circuit testers that work on the trailer side of the wiring like the # 8010 but since they have to send power to the circuits and verify that the circuit is complete they are a bit more involved than the testers that fit into a 7-way like the # TR20117. Another solution is to run a jumper wire from the positive pin of a vehicle battery to each of the pins on your trailer 7-way and then watch to see if the circuit activates. I attached a 7-way diagram for you to check out as well.

  • Trailer Connector Tests Okay But Will Not Operate Trailer Lights
So what you are saying is that you are getting power for all functions at the trailer connector, but when you plug in a trailer, any trailer, the lights on the trailer do not work-is that correct? Check your trailer connector on the vehicle, and make sure it is not damaged or overly corroded. If you can see green or white corrosion on the pins of the connector, it could prevent signal from reliably getting through to the trailer. Also, check the ground connection for the connector on the...

Try testing the running light pin of the connector on your Ram with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to see if the problem is on the vehicle or the trailer. If the pin isn't active its most likely a blown fuse under the hood of the truck. It could also be that the pin is too corroded or dirty to function properly. You would want to try cleaning it with some fine grit sandpaper or wire brush. I attached a help article that details troubleshooting trailer wiring for you to check out as well.

So the stop/turn circuits on a trailer typically draw the most amperage so if your trailer wiring had an insufficient ground this would be the time it would show up.
