Comparing the Wesbar LED and Incandescent Agriculture Trailer Light Kits

Question:

I have a big sailboat trailer. Do you think your Wesbar LED Agriculture Light Kit with Brake Light - 7-Way Round Plug would be appropriate? I like the idea of removable lights because they keep getting destroyed in trailer yard and we launch in salt water. I like the idea of LED - but I was curious why they $100 more than the regular lights. thanks

The price difference between The Wesbar LED Light kit # 54003-041 and the Wesbar Incandescent Light Kit # W002676 is due to the cost of producing LED lights versus incandescent light bulbs. LED light are quite a bit more expensive to make than incandescent lights. That being said, LED lights will last longer and use less power than their incandescent counter parts, so I do suggest going with the LED option.

It should be noted that both the LED # 54003-041 and Incandescent # W002676 will use the 7 Round plug on the end. This is not the most common connector on standard vehicles. Most vehicles will have a 7 Blade connector. If you do indeed have the 7 Blade style connector, there are a few options available to solve this issue.

The Curt # C58145 would replace the 7 Round plug that comes with the Wesbar light kit, but would require the removal of said 7 Round plug.

The Brophy # R7CB would replace the 7 Blade connector on the vehicle, but also requires hardwiring it to the vehicle.

The best option if you have the 7 Blade connector on your vehicle will be the Brophy # F77R. This will require no cutting or splicing of any wires or replacing anything.
