Plate uses 9/16" diameter U-bolts to attach your round, 3-1/2" diameter trailer axle to your 1-3/4" or 2" wide leaf springs. Designed for use with 8,000-lb Dexter axles.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a U-bolt plate for 3-1/2" diameter around trailer axles. This is used in conjunction with U-bolts to secure an axle to the leaf springs, which are mounted to the trailer frame. This attaches with two 9/16" diameter around U-bolts, which are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. It's designed to work with round trailer axles that have a diameter of 3-1/2". It's designed for use with 8,000 pound Dexter Axles, and works with 1-3/4" or 2" wide leaf springs, and it's made from a nice durable, thick, steel construction. My entire axle assembly turned to rust. I rebuilt the whole thing. I metal prepped and painted including mating surfaces.

Product arrived quickly and accurately content wise. The hangers are going to be tight fit on 1 3/4 wide springs (weld on and spread a little).
I immediately ordered from etrailer again as I only ordered 2 u bolts rather than the 4 necessary.

This fits the traditional trailer leaf spring widths of 1-3/4 inch, 2 inch, and 2-1/2 Inch but will not fit the large 3 inch slipper springs because the with of the U-bolt Plate will be too large. I am not sure what plate you are describing at there isn't a U-bolt...

How that relates to your fender to tire clearance really depends on the location you install the fenders.
