What is the internal width of the braking surface for this drum.

The braking surface on the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K is 2-1/4" wide. I went out to our warehouse to confirm this for you. If you need a set of braking assemblies to use with them, I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2. These assemblies have pads that are 1-1/4" wide though you could use larger should you need to do so.
