How To Choose Correct Electric Brakes for Boat Trailer with 13" Wheels  

Question:

I have a 3500Lb trailer with 13 in wheels , it has the backing plate for mounting. what would be the correct break assemble kit . I dont see a kit for 13in wheels under the 3500lb axel listing I can only find them under 3000lb axel listing Its a a boat trailer and the boat is only 1300 lbs. if that helps.

The correct brakes and hubs/drums will be chosen based on the axle capacity. If the trailer came with 13" wheels then it likely has a 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb axle, not 3,500 lbs. If you have a 2,000 lb or 2,200 lb axle then I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2 with the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-2-EZ-1K. The axle capacity can be verified by checking the axle tag or pulling the hubs and reading the bearing numbers.
