Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

Love having the hitch for my bike rack. Included bolts are just a little short, made installation much harder. Went out and bought bolts for a couple that wouldn't reach. Just a 1/4" would have made all the difference! Otherwise great.

by:

It worked out pretty well except for the long bike rack that I put on. Over a driveway dip It actually ripped loose the forward frame attachment. Since it was only spot-welded in four places, I had it continuously welded back on. 2013 Honda Fit.

I’m giving 4 stars because there was a alarming/annoying banging noise coming from the muffler striking the hitch when I was going up mountain roads. I didn’t know what the heck was happening when it first occurred. Gravity would cause the muffler to swing toward the back of the car, thus striking the frame of the hitch. See picture below. The help team at etrailer, sorry to say, were not very helpful. They gave me a very technical answer that I needed more assistance to understand. My follow-up questions were ignored. (This was unusual for them because in the past they had been extremely helpful.) So I contacted the EcoHitch help support and they provided more assistance with answers I could understand. What I ended up doing was my own fix, an easy one. I glued a small piece of rubber onto the frame of the hitch where the muffler was making contact. The contact mind you is not constant, (It only happens on steep mountain climbs) and it was the outside edge of the muffler making contact. Thus no concern with a hot muffler melting the rubber. Once I did this, the banging sound was completely negated. Regarding the hitch, it is sturdy and well made. Due to tolerances on various vehicles for muffler placement, the problem that I had with the muffler striking the hitch is not common. But given this is a possible problem, during installation you may need to bend the muffler bracket a 1/4 inch toward the front of the car to accommodate any muffler travel to prevent it from striking the hitch. Be sure to test this before you complete the job and or alert your tech to this possible problem. Otherwise the EcoHitch is a very good hitch and I recommend it with the reservations mentioned above.

We do have an FAQ on how to move the exhaust to help correct the noise from the muffler hitting the hitch.

This is the second receiver hitch I've purchased from etrailer and installed myself. I was a little leary this time around because there was no installation instruction video and the hitch was rated as difficult to install on my son's 2010 Honda Fit. It turned out that the printed instructions were very thorough and relatively easy to follow. My first etrailer nitch purchase was for my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek was very easy to install based on the included instructions and video. I highly recommend etrailer.com for both their products and customer service. etrailer also has very competitive pricing and great shipping times.

I am happy with the quality of the trailer hitch but I am missing an important piece and I am unable to install my trailer hitch to my car. I sent out an email (not quite sure if it really sent out though) about it but I have not heard anything back about it. I hope maybe they will get back to me soon or hopefully work out this problem with a phone call.

It was more expensive to put on than I expected due to my brand of car. Honda Fit. It works fine, as expected. I use it for my ebike carrier.

by:
2013 HondaFit

the hitch itself is solid as a rock. I will tear the vehicle in half before this hitch.. The coating is a very durable surface as well, It fits pretty good and didnt need to mod anything. only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the directions SUCK. they are out of date, did not match my vehicle, and the pictures are so faded and over copied that you cant tell anything. So dont do this hitch if your not pretty skilled, and good at problem solving because you wont be able to count on the directions.

Easy installation, with complete instructions. Looks great. Planning to use it for a bike carrier and small boat trailer.

Also great customer service when there was a slight mix-up with my order.

2012 HondaFit

I don’t buy many things without first doing a hefty amount of research, so choosing this hitch for my 2012 Honda Fit, over the other choices, was more expensive, but definitely worth it. I love to fish and scuba, and had already bought a small inflatable boat and trailer, but needed the additional tongue clearance AND load assurance from this hitch versus the 200lbs limit of any other 1.5” receiver. The simple fact that this one comes in 2”, is a plus. The 300lbs tongue weight limit is another plus, and the added clearance is the crown. Slightly more challenging to install, but the etrailer YouTube videos are easy to follow and worth the time. Overall, couldn’t be happier. Now I can load my motorcycle carrier, boat and trailer, jet ski, or small utility trailer without much issue. Spend the extra for piece of mind!

by:

I like it exactly what I was expected

by:

I love my new hitch..it is very sturdy, and is beautifully designed to be "hidden", only exposing the 2" opening. It worked perfectly with my Hollywood rack, and easily supports two e-bikes. Bikes stay sturdy when driving. Best of all the rack locks to your car keeping the bikes safe when you link your bike lock through the opening in the hitch. The only negative is it is not easy to install, as the car bumper has to be removed. We did it, but it takes time. The directions are very good. Also, I remove it from my car when not in use as it does stick out quite far in back.

2009 HondaFit

Extremely fast shipping. I ordered Friday after 5 pm received tracking info by 10 pm order arrived from across the country Monday midday. Completely over built and attaches to the same points on the car that the factory recovery hook attaches. It’s not just bolted to some random holes on the bottom of the car. Installing was easy with basic tools. I ordered from etrailer.com because of their [online] videos. I have a small wheel less trailer that will be used for vacation luggage, ice chest for crawfish/seafood, and gas cans for the generator during hurricane season. I also ordered the wire kit and the flappy rubber cap. All three items were top quality for a fair price.

Install went well on my 2013 Honda Fit Sport, and I've been driving around with it on for at least a year now. I installed this so I could mount a bike rack large enough for my electric bike. Great product, thanks!

This hitch is the only way to add a 2" receiver to a small vehicle like the Honda Fit. With this I am able to use the same bike rack that I do on my family's SUV without any adaptors.

This hitch is amazing. Works perfectly on Honda fit 2013. Been using it to move bikes and e-bikes without an issue. Only 200 lb weight capacity so great for bikes but, nothing heavier. Perfect for my needs. 1yr later, it works without issue.

  • Recommended Hitch w/ a 2" Receiver for a 2010 Honda Fit
The only option for a 2" hitch on your 2010 Honda Fit is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7286 you were looking at. This hitch only has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity. So long as your bike rack and heavy e-bikes weigh below 200 lbs this hitch will be the only option for your vehicle. Ecohitch does not rate the class on this hitch so you will want to refer to your vehicles owner's manual to verify if your Fit has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity. If you are looking...

This Class II hitch has a 2" receiver opening with a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and tongue weight of 300 lbs. As for the 2015 hitch, a hitch from the 2015 Honda Fit is not compatible with the 2012 Honda Fit.
