How to Carry Bikes on a 2009 Honda Fit Sport
Question:
You mentioned the need to possibly buy a crossbar for womens bikes so the bike would sit level. Can you tell me what the distance is between the two bars that hold up the bike on this bike rack.? I have a large ladies bike and there is 21 inches between the two gaps that the bike may hang from if the handle/strap is not to thick. Also since the bike is big and the car is small I am not sure how close to the ground the bike will ride on the rack. Thank you for your time!

Since you have a 2009 Honda Fit Sport you will not be able to use a trunk mount bike carrier because on the Sport models trunk mount carriers cannot be safely mounted to the vehicle.
The options for carrying bikes are either going to be a roof mount or a hitch mount. A hitch mount is going to be easier to load and cost less.
First you will need a trailer hitch. You can use EcoHitch trailer hitch # 306-X7286. This is a Class II hitch so you will need a carrier that is rated for use on a Class II hitch. This hitch has a 2" receiver opening.
For a carrier that will work with the EcoHitch hitch you can use the BikeWing, # C18085. It holds the bikes at the wheels so you would not have to worry about using an adapter bar. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.
