Lots of chips off the paint when arrived and paint generally flaked off in large pieces if hit against frame etc. Used spray paint to cover.
Excellent build quality. All parts were there and of excellent quality.
Should mention that you just pull the wire out once bolt is in place and that they are one use only. (Obvious now but spent time trying to re-use at first)
Found some rust under the bumper so took advantage of it being off and sanded / painted.
Bolt holes did not align so some encouraging required with a crowbar while being mindful of the welds.
Should mention that torquing bottom bolts lowers side mount holes into position. I spent a fair bit of time trying to loose fit the side bolts in with no luck. Went in fine once lower bolts were tight.
Overall very happy. The look is excellent. Install took all day but would be only a few hours if I had to do it again.

Detailed instructions, no missing parts, a LOT of good info about trailoring.... figuring tongue weight etc... I thought I could use mypop gun for the nylon rivets- nope- quick trip to the store and it’s done. Pretty easy actually. Glad I went with the style where I had to trim the bumper shroud, very clean looking.
The look of the finished install is outstanding. The actual install process was tough in my case.
I picked this hitch because of how much higher it sits. I am very pleased with the look now that its done. I feel that for the Dodge Journey this is the best looking hitch available.
It's estimated that the install should take two hours, and I would agree with that. I had the bumper cover and the bumper reinforcment off in 30 min. I ran into a problem with two of the six bolt holes being off by half the diameter of the hole. To overcome this problem it took me 1-1.5 hours.
If your going to tackle this hitch you need to puchase a plastic rivit installer. The hitch comes with replament rivits for the ones drilled out during bumper cover removal. I also cant say enough how much easier it is with a panel removal kit and a clip remover. You really only need the rivit tool and they are cheap enough.
Overall i'm very happy with the hitch and the clean look it provides. If the holes had all lined up it woul have been a solid five stars.
Looks Great and easy to install. I like the fact it is higher in the ground and more discrete vs the other styles.
Wish there were videos of installing if you don't have a hoist. I imagine most people don't have access to that. Install was easy but for me. The hardest part was taking out the exhaust hangers as the parts that were holding them were pretty rusted and even with spray it was still pretty hard to take out. I recommend checking to see if you can get the hangers out first as you might need the specialized tool to remove it before you take apart everything else IMO.
The installation was simple and straight forward. Cutting the fascia for the 2" receiver was simple enough with a Dremel. The product is stronger than the stock bumper and feels very solid. Once put together the rear bumper looks better than new.
After a somewhat difficult installation this item has performed great. Installation was difficult due to either the hole in the hitch or the hole in the frame being slightly off in location. After consulting with the Tech at etrailer.com, I had to make the hitch hole oval so the bolt would go through. The other problem was the tight space to get my 1/2 Torque wrench in to tighten to 75-Lb-Ft.
One good thing about this hitch is that it replaced the bumper, and this hitch considerably stronger than the bumper tube. A side benefit is the hitch is completely hidden except the 2-in receiver.

As expected still on the vehicle. Works great. I use a STRONG magnet bolted to the 7-way connector bracket, I attache this to the hitch behind the fascia, so it is out of sight execpt when pulling a trailer.
Great product; excellent quality; The installation went as expected thanks to online video instructions. The new trailer hitch looks as close to factory as you can get on my 2010 Dodge Journey.

Excellent product, looks great and performs as expected
Worth the extra cost to fit it up higher on car. No interference, no problems, just good value.
We received our hitch but when we took out of the box we noticed a lot of bubbling in the metal . Is there a warranty in this hitch.

The bubbling that you are seeing can occur during the powder coating process of the hitch is normal. You can touch up the area with a rust resistant paint if there are any concerns.
This hitch installed nicely and looks great. It's not easy and took some patience. Removing the stock frame connecting bumper and replacing it with the much heavier trailer hitch looks much safer. Instructions must be followed to the letter and I needed prybars and a soft hammer. I altered from the Instructions when I cut the plastic bumper cover. I cut mine the exact size of the receiver rather than the recommended oversized cutout. When doing this the bumper had to spread out over the reinforced double layer at the end of the receiver. Doing this risks tearing the bumper, but I managed to do it.
The best hitch for its form,fit & function. Even the car dealer guys who installed the hitch was well it fits and looks. I have bought a couple of hitches from here and always been happy with the products and their customer service.
We LOVE our trailer hitch. My husband installed it on his own and it works great. I was nervous that he had to take a part off my vehicle in order to install it but you can not even tell it is missing!
Awesome trailer hitch system. Installed it myself with minimal issues. Was great to have a video for my exact vehicle to reference. Made my install easy.
the hitch that I received was like new and had all of the hardware. It even had the plastic rivets that I needed to replace because to replace my hitch the bumper facia had to be removed. It also had 6 bolt assist wires [to help fish the bolts into place] instead of just 1 or 2. So it was a very nice kit. The only drawback with this particular hitch was not mentioned or even hinted , was once the vehicle metal bumper was removed it would not be reinstalled. I did not now that when I bought the kit.I wish that I could have retained the vehicle bumper. Now there is a lot of clearance between the bumper facia and the hitch itself, so the bumper facia is now useless plastic that does not do much of anything except to hide the hitch. It would be nice if the description of the kit mentioned that the bumper would no longer be used and also came with some high density foam to be used and prevent the bumper facia from deforming, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars.
Perfect fit! I learned two things installing mine vs. the videos and included instructions. 1. you do not need to lower the exhaust at all (2009 Dodge Journey, SXT dual exhaust, 3.5 V6). This hitch requires you to remove the rear valance (bumper shell) and there is plenty of room to work after that.
2. install the top bolts first! It is much easier to line up the top bolts with nothing else attached. Once you have that the other four just drop in. The included fish wires work perfect.
Cutting the bumper shell made me a bit nervous, but you can do it with a sharp (new blade) carpet knife or the cut wheel like shown in the video. Just measure carefully and the instructions are exact.

Pulled a motorcycle on a trailer with this thing. It is the best one you can get for this car if you want it to look nice and tucked away. Install went well and I am happy with my purchase.
Installed it and then the day after loaded up a heavy electric wheelchair on a chair hauler that slides into the hitch and drove 1700 miles with no problems
This is the best looking hitch option for the Dodge Journey. It just flat works.
Hitch fit my Dodge Journey perfectly. Installation instructions were easy to follow.
Good solid product! Installation was easy! You do not have to drop the exhaust if you have a 3/4 inch crowfoot! I found it easier to get the fish wire into the rear hole by back feeding a wire from outside, then hooking the fish wire with the bolt attached to it and pull it back through.
