Does 7-Way of ETBC7L Have to be Mounted to Fascia Using Draw-Tite Hitch 76225

Question:

I would like to thank you for your excellent advice and help on my last question that. I sent to you. Kyles reply was spot on. However, I have a follow up question. I own a 2018 Dodge Journey Crossroad, AWD. And, I plan on using your Trailer hitch, item #76225 with the Saris Door County Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes Electric Lift, #SAR42RR. After installing the two required wire harnesses, I am unsure where I can attach the receptacle portion of Item # ETBC7L to my vehicle or the trailer hitch. The lower portion of the valence is plastic and kind of flimsy for attaching the receptacle to it. Is there a bracket or some kind of reinforcement that I might use for this installation? Can it be attached to the trailer hitch itself and would that entail modifying the opening for the trailer hitch or making a separate opening for the receptacle itself? Thanking you in advance,

Greatly appreciate the nice words, and I wish I could be as helpful here, but the 7-way of the # ETBC7L does have to be mounted to the fascia of your 2018 Dodge Journey when installing the Draw-Tite # 76225.

The reason for that is how this specific hitch installs, directly behind the bumper and with the receiver dropping down. So there isn't enough room for a second bracket to stick out either forward or backwards for the bracket of the 7-way to latch onto. There also isn't enough space to mount the 7-way to the hitch, as it doesn't drop down far enough to clear the bumper. So really, apart from some custom bracket fabrication, or cutting a hole in your bumper fascia large enough for the 7-way to stick out, with the # 76225 hitch, the 7-way does have to connect to the fascia.
