Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

With the help of a mechanic, a lift and all the right tools the hitch went on easily. The wiring harness was a little challenging as connections had to be made directly to each tail light. It required finding existing holes to run the wiring harness which required pulling the back panels loose and removing the storage area compartments. This is where the mechanic came in handy as he knew what to pull to pop things loose. I am very pleased with the communication with the eTrailer staff in making sure I had the correct parts needed to install my hitch.

The hitch is perfect. My boyfriend installed it easily. We use it for our bikes. We have no problems with it. It is sturdy.

George,
The hitch fit perfect as described.
I
was able too install this trailer hitch in about 4 hours, using only hand tools. If this 77 year old man can install the hitch, anyone should be able to it.

Sales consultant suggested correct hitch for my Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. It arrived in a timely manner. Online video for installation was spot on. Installation was easy. Works great with my bike rack.

It fit perfect but the paint quality is lacking. Lots of paint already missing.

Etrailer Expert

Katrina D.

7/27/2023

I'm sorry to see that the hitch already has a lot of paint missing. This does tend to happen during shipping and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below for your reference. I have also sent this information over to our Customer Service Department for them to get into contact with you.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe

Very impressed with the customer service I received. I ordered a hitch that appeared to have a factory defect that left it unable to fit the frame of my car. I called customer service and, after walking me through some steps to try and fix the issue, they quickly accommodated by shipping a new hitch the next business day. The call to customer service was on a Sunday, I had a new hitch on my doorstep by Wednesday, and they paid for shipping both ways. Great service!

The installation videos from etrailer made it incredibly easy to follow exactly how to install on my specific vehicle. It took less than an hour, and I saved a few hundred dollars over the quote I received for installation from a national truck rental business. Highly recommend etrailer, and I will be placing my next order with them today.

2016 Hyundai Santa Fe

From my initial inquire, to the recommendation made for the appropriate hitch for our 2016 Hyundai Sante Fe, our whole experience in ordering was great. And then the instructional video was a home run. I had the advantage of having access to a lift, so in 25 minutes we had the drawtite hitch in place, bolted in and secure, including the spare tire back in place as it is supposed to be. Highly recommend etrailer.

All is well with the Draw-tite hitch. It is used only for mounting a Thule bike rack that holds 4 bikes. we have checked the mounts and bolts this spring and all were nice in snug.

This trailer hitch and wiring harness fit perfectly and both were extremely easy to install. I would not hesitate to make future purchases from etrailer. They were great to deal with.

I can't speak for installation. I had the hitch and light electrical kit installed locally.

I do like the hitch though, it's a sleek design that matches my 2014 Kia Sorrento.

Adam D.

6/26/2015

Is nice. Still works well. Made the rough salty Minnesota winter. No rust, still looking clean.

by:
2015 Kia Sorento

Well made. heavy duty. Washers for mounting bolts should have been two sizes but were all the same. Couldn't fit them in one spot. Probably not important as the spacer goes there and should act as a washer.

Product has served us very well during the first year. I have no complaints.

by:

The hitch was so simple to install after watching the video. I an 73 and my help is 84.

The installation for this went well. My car has 125k miles in Ohio (salty roads in winter). I had to re-tap the 4 holes in the frame since the threads were so rusty. I did not have to modify anything on my car at all. The instructions mention that you may have to cut a bumper locator and some of the plastic guards. I did not. I did all of the work on the ground, no lift, no jack, no ramps.

Some of the paint had scraped off in shipping. I emailed etrailer and they responded the same day to let me know the manufacturer recommends "Krylon Gloss Rough Tuff Enamel Spray paint to touch up any defects, which you will then have on hand for your regular hitch maintenance."

Getting a torque wrench in there was a bit tight. And with the recommended torques, this will require a torque wrench.

We will be using this with a hitch mount cargo carrier.

I purchase the Draw-Tite hitch (item 75772) for my new 2018 Santa Fe Sport to allow me to use the bike rack I have for our truck and from the previous car. The installation was very easy and I completed the install in about a hour without any help. My wife was working on repacking the wheel bearings on a friends travel trailer and I didn't want to interrupt her and her work. The hitch was a little challenging to install by myself but the height of the car allowed me to push it up and start one bolt on one side and then start a bolt on the other side. I did not need to lift the car up on jacks or stands, there was plenty of space to comfortably work under the car. After that it was easy to finish up. The fit was just perfect and holes in the frame all aligned with the hitch very well. The installation was easy and was a clean operation. The only thing I didn't quite get with the first reading of the instructions was the cuts on the plastic covers on the two sides of the car. I notched the covers to allow clearance with the attachment bolts and the instructions indicated to make a couple of cuts to allow the plastic to flex in to clear the bolt heads. All in all I would readily recommend this hitch for the 2018 Santa Fe Sport, it's easy to install, it looks good, and the fit and finish is outstanding.

by:
2014 Kia Sorento

Trailer hitch arrived earlier than anticipated. Installation time in the ad was about 40 mins. This is probably accurate if you have a fairly new car with a clean underside and access to a lift. Since I'm a DIYer, I raised my 2014 Sorrento (with undercoating and dirt) on ramps. Total time to install was about 3 hrs. Holes lined up but were extremely difficult to clean. Also, having a second set of hands is a must. Both your video and the paper instructions were good, but followed the video. Installation was straight forward. I'm looking forward to hauling biking, boating, and camping rigs with it.

by:
Pontiac Trans Sport Van

The hitch was just as described. The online video made the installation go very smoothly but having a lift would have made the job a lot easier.
The customer service was great. I can't remember a friendlier sales person than Helen. She made sure I got the correct item and the necessary accessories.
I'm totally satisfied with my purchase.
My main reason for the purchase was to use a carrying rack to transport my power equipment for service. I may also try my hand at hauling a small vacation trailer.

by:
2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

I installed personally with no issues. The etrailer online/youtube instructions were very helpful.

note - my only complaint were the stickers on the hitch. I'd prefer to have a clean look and they were wrinkled when applied to the hitch. When I removed some of the paint came off. It's an easy fix so not really bothered. My suggestion would be to have the stickers in the box and let the buyer apply where they want / if they want.

by:
2014 Kia Sorento

Just received yesterday- arrived within days of my ordering. Not installed yet, however, it looks great- solid construction, so I'm expecting years of solid use. It's actually overkill for my intended use- hauling around a small aluminum utility trailer.

I did some shopping around. I wanted to deal directly with a company (as opposed to giving my business to one of the BIG on-line sellers) and very glad I did. etrailer.com has already demonstrated excellent customer service both before and after the sale.

BONUS: They had the best price too! :->

(Will come back and update with a pic once installed)

by:
2018 Hyundai Santa Fe

I put this hitch up by myself and no lift,on a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, I worked on my back on the ground, only had to undo the front muffler rubbers,I managed to slide the end of the hitch up, and used a floor jack to raise the other end. Had to trim both panels in order to get the panels in place, the wiring was simple and a pleasure to install. All in all I had may be 1 1/2-2 hours to do it myself. The help by phone on ordering the correct stuff was a snap as well, Being a veteran I salute etrailer.com.

by:
2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

I am not a big fan of online reviews, but, my order with you was so fantastic it deserves rave reviews. My order arrived on time, with all parts and instructions intact. After inspection, the hitch looked flawless and it fit perfectly. Because of your quality product and service, I was able to install the hitch on my 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe in under an hour in my home garage.

Plus, your training videos were the best that I've ever watched!

I've already told 10-people about my great experience! THANK YOU!

by:

Easy to attach, if you have the tools, and the video tutorial was greatly appreciated.

Haven't had any hiccups with the hitch after a year.

by:

This was the second trailer hitch sent both were damaged in route. This one besides being damaged had no installation hardware etc.I had to call and the young man said he will send install hardware out tomorrow. For the first time order experience it was not a pleasant one.

by:
2015 Kia Sorento

Nicely designed hitch and a very clean installation. The on line videos are very helpful. Just wish I had a lift instead of having to work on my back with the car upon ramps. I was able to complete the installation by myself, but it was more difficult without help.

The spare tire is very snug after installation and must be cranked up at an angle until it seats in the well.

by:
2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

Fits perfect with 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T. My experience was slightly different than the video. I didn't have to remove any part of the plastic shrouds that are near the hitch receiver bolts. I just cut two slices big enough for each bolt and folded it inward and it fit perfect.

by:

Was delivered a week ahead time which was great. The cardboard packaging took quite a beating. UPS had to add a couple of layers of tape to keep the box together. No damage to hitch, other than a few small scratches.
Easy install thanks to the videos. No need to put the car on a lift; just some "driveway yoga".

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Towing Accessories for 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport
There are Class II and Class III hitches available for your Santa Fe Sport. Because the Class III uses the more common 2 inch receiver opening, which would give you many more flexibility in choosing hitch mounted accessories such as cargo carriers or bike racks. I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75772 as it is the most reasonably priced. All the available hitches would be just as visible from the rear, so none would have an advantage there. For any kind of an alternate frame e-bike, your best rack is always going to be a wheel-mount, platform style carrier that fits into a trailer hitch. • Why Would 2016 Kia Sorento Have Higher Towing Capacity than 2015
For 2016 it does look like Kia uprated the towing capacity of the Sorento. It's not uncommon for vehicle manufacturers to come up with weighs to increase the towing capacity of a vehicle from year to year. Most common way is by offering more powerful engines which allow for heavier trailers to be towed. Kia won't say exactly what changed but that you have to stick by the capacities for the vehicle. There was a generation change between the 2015 and 2016 models of the Sorento so I am sure...

When it comes to a hitch for your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo, I always recommend going with a Class III which has a 2 inch receiver opening. The 2 inch hitch is going to be more versatile in the long run. There are two options for a Class III hitch for your Santa Fe; Curt # C13152, and Draw-Tite # 75772.
