Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The video on the etrailer website shows bolts, or something along that line, supporting the exhaust. Everything holding up my exhaust was welded.
After finally getting the receiver up in place, I was able to either put two bolts in on one side then I was unable to line up the holes on the other side. If I put one bolt in on one side and one on the other, the other two holes didn't line up.
I had my vehicle up on ramps with a neighbor attempting to help me and we worked on it for close to two hours with NO success.
Currently this receiver has turned out to be as useless as a screen door on a submarine.
I give it two stars due to the sturdiness of the material.

After my troubles in trying to line up the bolt holes, I watched the video again and was then able to lower the exhaust. Once that was accomplished I was able to line up all four bolt holes and finish installation. I would now give a four star rating. My reason for not giving a five star is because, even after seeing exactly how to install it, it still took my neighbor and me better than two hours on our second try to install it. (So much for the thirty minutes as stated on the website)

You mentioned that the hitch has not been able to be installed. I wanted to see if you could send pictures of where the holes are not lining up? And how the exhaust is installed?

Bruce

7/13/2022

I watched the video again and saw how the exhaust was hung. I was able to lower it though it didnt like the video showed and that allowed the receiver to move more freely. My neighbor and I were then able to line up the bolt holes and finish installing it. Even with all that, it definitely took more than half an hour to install. I am willing to update my review and give a better rating.

Since installing the receiver on my vehicle, I have used it once a week during lawn mowing season to pull my 4×6 trailer with my mower on it I go to mow my daughters lawn. I have had no problem with the receiver.

Trailer hitch arrived well before the expected due date, so that was good. It slid right into place and was easy to install. Less than 30 minutes to get it on the SUV and secure and function. Perfect fit. Just as advertised.

by:
2008 Saturn Vue

This hitch was perfect for what we wanted to do (haul our bikes around). The box it arrived in was slightly damaged, but there wasn't any damage to the hitch inside. The required hardware were well-secured inside the 2" receiver. The instructions on the website were basic but accurate. Like others have said, the packaged instructions only mention two connectors for the exhaust system (when there are actually three), but it's not a big deal. The installation video is spot-on, and I recommend viewing it before you start (especially if this is your first hitch installation).

The installation can be a little cramped, but this isn't the faculty of the hitch or eTrailer. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase, the price, the speed of shipping, and the customer service from eTrailer.

Worked perfectly for our car. Need two sets of hands to install but not that complicated.

Have used it to haul small trailers carrying motorcycles numerous times, no problems at all. I love it

by:

I was amazed at how easy the installation was. The holes lined up perfectly and I was able to hold one end of the hitch up with a leg and the other with a forearm to align the holes as I was doing this solo. It would definitely be easier on lift with another person. I did this laying on the ground without the vehicle jacked up. The only thing I found wrong in the instructions was that it indicated that you needed to remove 2 rubber mounting donuts to lower the exhaust and I had to remove 3. Took an extra 30 seconds. I did spray some lube on the rubber mounts before removing them. Also keep in mind that the washers are concave and should be installed so that the washer smashes against the frame. I didn't realize this until I had all of the bolts tightened but before I torqued them, so I had to take 2 of them back out and flip the washers. This job took me less than an hour including removing the 2 bolts and switching the washers and torquing all 4 bolts. I forgot to order the wiring harness as well so don't forget that if you are towing a trailer. Tom

Great product and pretty simple install. You will need to drop the exhaust to make installation easier. Used tape on the box end of my wrench to hold the nuts in place to make the tightest areas easier to get to and aid with the install. Total install took less than 40 minutes. It's solid and looks good. Used with available wiring kit from etrailer( also crazy, easy to install) and you are ready to haul.

This hitch fit my wifes 08 Saturn Vue like a glove. Order the hitch on a Wednesday and it showed up the following Tuesday, Monday was a holiday. The box wasn't Free shipping too. I installed the hitch in 45 minutes(by myself) and wiring took 3 hours. Took my time so not to have to do it twice. Gotta love the videos that walk you through it. The only thinking I had to do was where to run the power wire under the vehicle to the front. Now I can tow the jetski to Flathead and not have to drive my gas hog truck!

by:
2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

This hitch has worked very well for the past year. I tow a 5 by 8 foot trailer with it. No issues. The receiver pushes in and pulls out very easy. Great product. I installed it myself. Very easy. I recommend this hitch.

by:

Fit from left to right of the trailer hitch was perfect.
Installation video was helpful, but not everyone has a lift. Mine had to be done on the ground. Process was not really that much different, tho.
Bolts did not fit the pre-drilled holes thread very well. Even after deburring the holes and cleaning them, I had to impact that bolts in with a high cfm impact gun to get them to seat all the way. I hope they never have to come out.

Other than those few details, I'm extremely happy with the fit and look if the hitch, as well as the pre-wired harness.

by: 09/11/2022

The receiver fit just as described, the installation video was accurate & extremely helpful. I installed myself easily with no surprises. Well done!!

by:
Saturn Vue

Hitch fit well and looks good on our Saturn Vue. The only hiccup during installation was that there were actually rubber four isolators that we had to remove (instead of the three shown on the video) to get the muffler to drop down enough to slide the hitch in.

by:

Found your site by googling ‘trailer hitch’. Entered car make, model and year. Found my hitch, ordered, it arrived two days later, followed installation instructions...done. I found installation very simple and it took me about a half hour. I used car ramps to elevate the rear end a bit. Very nice hitch, works great. Already passed your site info to two others.

by:

Fit perfectly, I did indeed let the exhaust system down for clearance as recommended in the instructions. Only problem was my rusted weld-nuts that were in the vehicles frame. Had to carefully run the bolt in and out with lube before installing the hitch.

by:
2013 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

Put my hitch on in 45 minutes. Excellent made hitch. Fits my Chevy Captive perfect and will pull my boat just fine.

great....no issues at all. excellent product

by:

great looking product and well hidden other than the receiver.
however do not pay attention to the "MAY BE's", you must lower the exhaust to even get the hitch to fit in above the muffler! 3- rubber slip hangers and she's ready to fit into place & bolt up. also leave the hangers off so you can torque the bolts to the frame.
maybe a 1- hour job for most people

maybe a 1- hour job for most people" />

Easy install. The video walks you through what to do. Best to have two people for the install just because it can be hard to bolt up. Fit great and looks awesome, can hardly tell its there.

Been a year and have had no problems with the hitck. Used it and time. Once to tow a car 1500 miles.

One of the Best online ordering experience I have ever had the pleasure doing. Barry handled the transition from the beginning till the end and not knowing much about what I was talking about,he walked me though the entire process. It says a lot about a company when their employees take such pride and knowledge in their job performance.
Again it was my first time working with your company and it definitely wont be the last
Thank you so much for all the help the great product and the fast delivery

Does the job well. Easy to install. Everyone should at least try one.

by:

Heavy built, seemed loose fitting but bolts tightened up ok. UPS shipping ALWAYS comes with torn up and smashed boxes, good thing its all steel !

by:

product fit as advertised, had some paint scraped off during shipping, but was easy to repair before installation. instructions are very good, the most difficult part was getting rust scale out of the nuts in the frame, after that piece of cake!

by:

The trailer hitch has worked week since I purchased it some months ago. Thanks.

Very pleases with quality and design of product. Instructions were excellent and installation was a breeze. Far easier than I expected. I highly recommend eTrailer for your towing needs.

by:

Easy install. Even better if you have second pair of hands to line up bolts. 4 bolts that's it. Easier if you do lower the exhaust first. Gives you that little extra room.

You should not have to cut anything to install Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75556. The hitch receiver opening will sit just below the rear fascia.
