Can I Use The Hitch Extender HE06 To Carry Wheelchair Carrier On Draw-Tite Hitch 75556

Question:

My wife has a 2013 Chevy Captiva with Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Item # 75556 installed. We have a carrier for her medical scooterpicture attached. The holes on both the hitch receiver and the carrier dont line up due to the back bumper. The scooter weighs 100 lbs with the batteries taken off. The carrier weighs about 65 lbs. Will this extender work for my situation? Part # Rack-A33 Ecotric electric wheelchair carrier

When we installed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit part # 75556 on a 2013 Chevy Captiva Sport the measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the bumper was 6-1/2". The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the Ecotric Electric Wheelchair Carrier would need to be more than 6-1/2" to fit the hitch.

If it measures shorter than that you can use Hitch Extender For 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver 7" part # HE06 but it will cut the tongue weight rating of the hitch in half. The Draw-Tite has a 400 lb tongue weight rating so the new tongue weight rating would be 200 lbs. As long as you don't go over 200 lbs in the hitch you can use the extender without potential of failure. Since you will be at 165 lbs you shouldn't have any issues.
