I gave this hitch 4 stars because the receiver is very tight. Have to wiggle and push/pull pretty hard to get bike rack in and out. Curt's never had this problem but this hitch sticks out 1.5" more than the curt which is important when you want to open your trunk with bikes on the rack. I uploaded some photos. I cut a much smaller trim hole than what the video had. Started 10.75" from the front. Hole was 4"Lx6"W. See photos. Otherwise pretty easy install. Careful not to over torque your bumper bolts. Two ebikes on Saris freedom rack cleared trunk by good 1 inch. No need for a tilting bike rack.
Its a good light duty Hitch. I didn't know that this hitch is no longer sold because of problems with the hitch. I do not use it for heavy loads. I watch for any problems with this hitch and so far I have not found any. Hopefully it will be replaced with a better hitch. I must say this is the first hitch that I have purchased from etrailer that I am uncomfortable with but it has not caused any problems

I gave four stars due to the instructions were not accurate. The video that was put on by a trailer said that the instructions would come with a template for the cut out it did not. The instructions said to cut a 5“ x 6“ area out of the bumper cover. That was not even close. After four times cutting and trying to fit it we finally figured it out. Measure twice cut once. The rest of the instructions were spot on.
Easy installation I made a smaller cut 6” x 10”

Took 2 hours to put on. The Directions were great. Fit just right.
Etrailer's video was perfect. I had tried installing using the instructures that came in the box and couldn't understand what the black and white pictures were depicting. Also the QR code in the instructions pulls up a non functioning link. Very easy with video. I only cut a 6x6 hole in the panel and that was plenty to accommodate the hitch. MaxxHaul 80875 with 2 holes in the shank seems like a custom made adapter for my 1018 Malibu and allows attachment of 2" receiver basket or bike rack.
I bought this trailer hitch for my 2017 Chevy Malibu. It is a very good product. Instructions for installation were easy to follow. I have bought numerous products from E trailers over the years and they are great people to work with.
I installed a hitch to a 2016 Malibu. The process was fairly straightforward, the video was very useful.

Extremely easy to install on my 2017 Chevy Malibu Hybrid. I’m guessing the hybrid models have an extra plastic piece on the passenger side located at the bottom of the fascia. I didn’t realize it was attached until I removed the bumper cover.
Pros:
-etrailer step by step video
-Only hand tools needed
- Install time was 1 1/2 hours
-No need for a jack or lift
-Can be installed by one person but 2 is best when removing the bumper cover
-Clean look after install
Cons:
-Raised shank is definitely needed for ground clearance
-Receiver is very tight when I installed my Curt cargo carrier
-Had to rent a torque wrench for the auto parts store

This hitch has worked great, very satisfied!!
I like the design so as to conceal the cross member behind the bumper.
Product is great, although the installation says 10 of 10 for difficulty I had no trouble completing it in 90 minutes which included removing/installing the bumper - both plastic body and actually aluminum bumper.
Product arrived hanging half way out of the box so packaging or handling could be better but it was undamaged and fits beautifully.
Installation instructions were almost accurate. The socket for removing the bumper bar is a 15mm, not a 16mm as instructed. You'll need a deep socket for that. Also there was no need to do anything inside the trunk for removing the bumper. It pulls off pretty easy. Getting it back on was difficult, and may require a second person to assist.
Easy to order online. Great attention. Fast shipping. Great piece. Thanks for everything. I bought a hitch and wiring.
