2006 Volvo V70
The bitch came about 4 days after I ordered it and the installation was extremely easy. If you don't have a friend to help, you can use a car jack to hold the lift in position to mount it.
It looks great on the car with the main support behind hidden under the bumper and it holds our bike rack with no issues.
It was a great price, product and value and I would buy from etrailer again when I'm on to my next car.

2005 Volvo V70
We installed the Hidden Hitch on a 2005 Volvo V70 wagon. Overall, the installation went very well. I was pleased with the hitch design, etrailer.com ordering and shipping, and the installation. Most importantly, everything lined up correctly. As mentioned in other comments I read, you really need a second person to help hold the hitch while attaching to the car. In addition to the expected tools, such as the socket wrench, we used a 6” extension and a torque wrench. The extension made the installation much easier, but the torque wrench was not something I thought of in advance. When you remove the bolts on the driver’s side, the exhaust can be shifted to left which allows room to maneuver the hitch into place. This hitch is designed to fit onto the exhaust bracket, not between it and the frame, avoiding a challenge. On the right, the tow bracket must be removed and cannot be placed back over the hitch bolts with modifying the bracket. Due to the angle of the bracket, the bolt holes no longer align. I suppose this could be overcome by filing out the bolt holes to improve the alignment. To avoid overstressing the brackets holding the exhaust system, I used a scissors jack to ever so lightly lift and hold the exhaust (probably unnecessary, but on my mechanic’s advice, I was being careful). This also allowed me to raise and lower the exhaust easily as needed, without trying to support it while managing the hitch, particularly when I was ready to bolt it altogether. Other than that, it is a matter of following the instructions. It took me close to an hour and a half, but I worked carefully since I had not done this before. If I were to do it over again, I am sure I could do it in under an hour.
Ordering and shipping was perfect. Once etrailer.com receives the order, they confirm by email and send updates, so it is easy to track. I recommend thinking how you will use the hitch, which seems obvious. I am using it primarily for hauling bikes, with second the possibility of pulling a small trailer. So I ordered the 2” adapter and hitch lock. I ordered the cover for the opening, which was unnecessary, since it comes with the cover.

2006 Volvo XC70
The install was very straight forward and would have taken 30 minutes had the exhaust bracket not prevented the proper alignment for the bolt. It was a struggle to get the 2 left bolts started. The hitch needed to slide right about 2mm and all would have been easy. Once torqued down it all assumed the proper alignment. Also, I did not receive the pin and clip- it must have fallen out a hole in the box. A call to Kat had it sent out. Very good service and product.

This hidden hitch installed quite easily, once I had figured out what parts of the Volvo V70 went where after I took it apart. I haven't used it yet, but I am very satisfied with the mounting and the completeness of the kit. I almost brought a kit that was $20 cheaper, and then realized that the extras that were included with this kit more than made up for the difference (tow bar insert, and rubber receiver cover)
Not only that, but etrailer exceeded expectations in friendliness (even though I didn't speak to anyone, just the emails they sent me. Came quickly and everything was there.

Looks fantastic. I wimped out on installation and our mechanic said it was under an hour. Fits perfectly under our 2007 v70 wagon and is wonderfully low profile. Saved a headache over the OEM version which would have had us taking off the bumper and putting in a cutout.

Mechanically, this was a breeze to install, using car ramps. There are no nuts to deal with since they are built into the frame of the Volvo. Just remove the bolts holding the hidden license plate holder on the right side and the exhaust pipe on the left (an impact wrench is recommended for ease but a 1/2" drive socket set with a short pipe on the handle for extra torque also works. As everyone has commented, the hitch pin clip will not fit and you need either a locking type or one with a hole in the end and a large key ring or cotter pin. With the right tools and preparation, 30m. It took me an hour.

Overall a good product. I use it to carry my bike rack on a regular basis. No issues to date. On a side note, I have an R model S60, and the exhaust system was a little troublesome during the install. If you are comfortable working on a vehicle, you can surely overcome the difficulties.

2006 Volvo XC70
I'd give my new Drawtite Hitch Receiver #36297 zero stars if that was an option. It appears to have been constructed by a worker who needs to get his vision corrected. The welds are competent, but they're systematically out-of-square: every joint is cocked 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 degrees to the left. The result is a product that doesn't fit. The flanges are misaligned so they won't mate with my vehicle's frame, the receiving socket is twisted out of plumb, and cocked to one side too. Simply unusable! I'd have to send too many photos to document the systematic nature of these faults, but here's one, and you can take it from me, they're ALL like this.

I bought this hitch for my Black '07 xc70 after reading favorable reviews online and it quickly arrived 2 days later. I backed the back end of my wagon onto ramps ( I highly suggest this) and used a torque wrench with a 6" extender. The extender and longer handle of the torque wrench were essential in making this a quick and easy install. Without extension, loosening and tightening the bolts would have been a pain. All in all, this is a great product. It looks better than most aftermarket hitches and is very unobtrusive on the wagon. Install and cleanup took about an hour. If I had a helper to hold the other end of the hitch while installing this would have been much faster. Thanks etrailer for a great product and lightening-quick delivery! (no pics from me - my wagon looks just like the one in the video and the hitch looks just as advertised).

Excellent hitch, quick shipping, top notch back up by a named staff member in case there is a problem. The hitch fit well, and was made of 5/16" steel, very thick compared to others. Hitch seems sturdy, and well powder coated. Hitch mounting holes line up well with car, however the exhaust bracket holes needed to be elongated slightly towards the center of the hitch as it would not line up properly.

2005 Volvo V70
First, I received the order within three days of ordering. Kudos!
This hitch fit perfectly on my 2005 Volvo V70. It came with a one page schematic of how to attach it, which was all that was needed. Using a 15mm socket and a 2' pipe extension, which was necessary, the existing bolts easily came out. After removing the existing bolts from each side, I started the install on the passenger side and propped the driver side of the hitch up on 3 stacked short pieces of 2X4. After securing, but not tightening the bolts, I switched to the driver side. I need to push the muffler mount out to get to the hitch up into position. I used a 5' 2X4 as leverage to raise the hitch into place, while pushing the muffler mount to the outside to get around the rubber mount. Worked beautifully for me and completed in less than 30 minutes.
This is a really solid hitch and I really appreciate that it came with a drawbar. I almost just purchased a hitch from U-haul with installation, but I am so glad that I chose to do it myself.
I highly recommend this hitch.

2007 Volvo XC
Great price and good fitI have 2007 Volvo XC and I needed a 2 inch receiver for a bike rack that I already had, but the two inch hitches were expensive, hard to find, and difficult to install. So I ordered the 1 1/4 and bought a Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2". Installation was fairly easy. No drilling and cutting of the bumper. I used small ramps to raise the back end of the car and that really helped getting the hitch bracket around the exhaust. I only needed to loosen the exhaust bracket on the left side. Have someone hold the hitch as you work the hitch bracket around the exhaust bracket. In all it took 40 minutes.
