Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2010 Chevrolet HHR

Great Quality easy to install great price Doesn't get any better than that! Thank you etrailer!

by:

Went on easily. Instructions should say that left rear must be lifted higher to allow hitch to go above the muffler.

by:

This really is a great hitch,at this point I have used it for pulling a utility trailer with trash as well as my J Deere tractor, pulls like a pro,a great product.

by:

This product is great! Installed it with in an hour. The video was a great feature, eazy to follow. Can't wait to use it hauling my tent trailer to the beach. I also puchased the wire harness. Now that was a snap to install, took about 15 mintues.

by:

The hitch and wiring were a perfect match for my vehicle. Quick shipping and no issues! Thanks

by:

the hitch came very quickly and was very neat after installed and looks good on the car.would definitely recommend it to anyone the video was very helpful

Ford Edge

Solid, quality piece. Very easy to install. Took about 40 minutes. I own an HHR SS and the receiver did hit on the lower edge of the bumper. I had to trim the bumper a bit around the receiver (see photo). I believe the SS has a different bumper than the LT and LS models so if you’re ordering this for an SS be aware of this minor issue.

by:
2009 Chevrolet HHR

Popped this right on my 09 HHR no problem. The wire bolt threader included was a life saver.
Now I can tow my little boat to go fishing!

by:

Great product and fast delivery. Thanks to the how to videos the job went as planned. Very happy I found etrailer.

This is one great product. It arrived quickly, looks great ,was built strong and was a snap to install. It took my buddy and I about an hour to do the installation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend E Trailers to anyone.

by:

I ordered a trailer hitch and lighting harness for my auto from etrailer.com. The response to my order and completed delivery were rapid and appropriate.

I am a 78 yr old female who must accomplish hitch installation by myself. There were helpful guides and suggestions for safe installation of the hitch on the on line order page along with suggested videos showing step-by-step safe installation instructions for my auto. I realize that my unskilled status as a hitch installer may create a lengthier completion time than the video suggested, but, hey!, so does everything else I do at this juncture of my life.

I have a list of additional auto accessories to purchase prior to striking out on a solo coast to coast journey across the US, and I intend to utilize etrailer's catalog of merchandise while filling that list. I urge you to check this company's products if you require special vehicle items for your own needs. It is pleasant to shop with a company that seems more concerned with customer satisfaction than with simply augmenting its profitability. I, for one, appreciate shopping with a company that favors my need to spend efficiently on items I can utilize through self-installation. You know, the good old American DoItYourself methodology! In addition, they send your order expeditiously and follow up with you via email to make certain that you have received it correctly.
Good job, etrailer!

Chevy HHR

Fantastic - watched the video online and ran a 1/2 bit through the rear hole on the pax side when I placed the order. Free 5-day shipping arrived on time - box was a bit battered but hitch was fine. Jacked car up from both sides, put jack stands under it and wondered if I had enough room to drop the muffler but it went in just like the video showed it would. May order something to keep the back up when it has a load but have to wait until the snow melts to get my little trailer out and see the effect of being hooked up. Will keep coming back to etrailer. Dealing with them is trouble-free. The trailer hitch came with a draw bar - great product with the best price for someone who's going to tow.

I still have the HHR, and the hitch continues to perform as designed. The finish is still good, the Hidden Hitch rubber plug even stays tight when the stinger isnt in. Couldnt be happier with the hitchwiring harness. The hitch on that car has been very useful. My son hauled his mountain bike thousands of miles last summer on a bike rack ed into the hitch. Its been a center-of-balance trick to match the small trailers I tow so the tongue weight is not exceeded but still totally worth the effort. I added a tailgate to my motorcycle trailer so that when my dirt bikes on it the tongue weight is 80 pounds and the trailer weight is 485. Happy that I did some research prior to buying and the installation video on your site was the best research result I found.

by:

The hitch when mounted was too close to a muffler hanger and banged against it. I had to cut the hanger off.

by:

Went on with out a lift using jack stands in about 45 minutes. Fairly easy install. Well constructed and should serve light trailer duties and bike rack usage very well.
Note: If you are ordering this it comes with a 1/2" wire feeder so don't order one!
etrailer, great job of communicating and very fast shipping!!! Thanks!

Does the hitch come in one pieces or 3 pieces ?

Patrick B.

3/19/2014

This hitch, part # 24756, is all one piece. The flanges are already welded to the cross tube. The hardware will be in a bag that is usually wrapped to the hitch.

by:
2006 Chevrolet HHR

The hitch was exactly what I needed to use for hauling bikes. I also reviewed hints on how to install it, which were a great help. On my car, getting the muffler to drop out of the way was the hardest part of the installation. I also followed advice of having a helper, so we could lift the hitch into place more easily.

The hitch continued to work just fine. I got it to carry bicyclesand for that purpose it worked great. Byron

by:

Easy install for the average mechanic. The hitch provides exactly what it is intended for.

What makes the difference in a good and bad online experience is what a company does when something goes WRONG!
And this did!
My hitch arrived in the perfect box, but when my installer went to put it on, it was somehow bent to where it wouldn’t fit.
I called them, explained the situation and there’s simply no way they could have jumped in to gear FASTER! The customer service was over the top INCREDIBLE!
They shipped a new hitch in no time flat AND sent a return label. That let me give the old one to the same driver that dropped off the NEW one!!
Anyone can do EASY. What sets a company apart is how they handle the customer when there’s a problem!
I can’t SAY enough good stuff about their service! It was an outstanding experience from beginning to end!

by:

Great product and much easier to install than I thought. I'm 72 and hsde no trouble installing it myself. Fast delivery also.

Installation instructions
suck! The job that you claim takes 40 minutes took me about three hours. I am an experienced mechanical engineer with many years of machine design under my belt, have worked on cars all my life and own every tool known to man. It still was a difficult project.
You might include the ball mount and maybe a ball. Even at additional cost--these items are necessary.

Patrick B.

2/10/2015

A ball mount is included with the Hidden Hitch and Curt 1-14 inch hitches. We sell the Draw-Tite 1-1/4 inch without a ball mount for those looking to save a few dollars when they will only be using the hitch for a bike rack or cargo carrier. Trailers in this weight range may use a 1-7/8 or a 2 inch ball so bundling a ball may not be useful.

by:

Went on very easy. Zero problems. Recommend 2 people when bolting it in so bolts dont get pushed into unibody. Can do it under an hour at a very relaxed pace and under 30 mins if you ever do it again.

by:

Perfect ! Ordering, Shipping, Installation , everything was great from start to finish. I was well informed from the time I placed the order till it arrived. Installation was no longer than an hour start to finish! I look forward to ordering more from Etrailer in the future!

Just a great product. Has been perfect for my needs. Not one problem since installation. I use it at least once a week. Very satisfied.

2007 Chevrolet HHR

This trailer hitch has held up fairly well over the past year. I've hauled many trailers. the hitch itself appears to have bent downward a bit, nothing big, by about an inch, and it could be due to hauling trailers on all the dirt roads near my house. Overall I'm satisfied, if the hitch broke I would buy it again, as it's added utility to my otherwise limited utility vehicle.

2007 Chevrolet HHR

Purchased for my 2007 Chevy HHR. This receiver is very well made and fits perfectly. The images and installation video were the best. I was able to complete the install in about 45 minutes. The only problem I had was that the 2007 HHR has a 3rd hidden hanger that needs to be released to drop the muffler. Once I found the right installation video for my year car I was back on track. I was able to do most of the work with the car on the ground, but had to lift the back wheels on ramps and get a friend to help me position the receiver to bolt it on. The receiver came with a bolt leader. I purchased an extra one ($1.36) when I placed my order and was glad I did, because I bent one in use. Now that I know my receiver fits, I have ordered my bike rack from etrailer. Their prices are actually better than other sites

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Chevy HHR
Curt and Draw Tite are not the same companies. Draw Tite and Hidden Hitch are made by the same company so they are basically the same. But Curt is it's own company by itself. For most vehicles all of the hitch manufacturers will go with a very similar design that uses the same installation points on the vehicle. In the case of your 2011 Chevy HHR all of the hitches do look very similar with a few minor differences. The hitch I would recommend is the Draw-Tite part # 24756 because it doesn't...

  • Installation Time for a Hitch on a 2009 Chevrolet HHR
For this particular installation I do not see a difference in the installation so I believe the difference is just in the amount of time the manufacturers stated at the time of engineering. The installation is essentially the same for all of the hitches (see link) offered for the 2009 Chevrolet HHR. I would allow a bit more time, maybe 1-1/2 hours, for the installation if working off of the ground without a lift.

  • Is There a Trailer Hitch for 2010 Chevrolet HHR With Heavy Tongue Weight Capacity
The only trailer hitches that fit a 2010 Chevy HHR are Class I hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver, 2,000 lb towing capacity and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. The reason is because these vehicles simply don't have the capacity for that much extra weight, and aren't designed with that purpose in mind. Five hundred pounds is a very large amount of tongue weight, and the only vehicles that have hitches with that much capacity are large trucks or SUVs. The only option to transport a mobility...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Ball Mount for a 2009 Chevy HHR
The trailer hitch I recommend is the Draw-Tite Class I # 24756 and Draw-Tite ball mount # 3594 because the top of the receiver to the ground is 10-1/4 inches and the ball mount will give you a 4-inch rise. As a result, giving you a 14-1/4 inch ground clearance and stay above the 13-1/2 inches. The weight will bring the clearance down a tad from the 14-1/4 inch clearance which will keep your trailer more level. The wiring for your 2009 Chevy HHR is # 118407 and 1-7/8 hitch ball is # 19256.
