Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver for our 2011 Chevy Impala worked out great!
It was easy to install with no drilling or welding. We pulled a 14' wooden boat on a small trailer. We would still be using it but for a distracted driver rear ending the car last January, totaling the car.

by:

Good Product, did what I wanted it to do. Pretty easy to install. Since it fits up under the trunk, the safety chain links are a little far back, have to get on knees to hook. No big deal. Overall very pleased. The chain hookup is why a 4 and not a 5. Dont hesitate on getting this, works great. I did get an adapter to use a 2" hitch rather than the 1 1/4". It too works well. No problems.

Dave

If you use 2 hitch you will need safety chain extentions. If you use the 1 14, the trailer hitch will hit the plastic bumper and take off the paint. Overall I am pleased.

I could not believe how easy this was to install or how quickly it shipped (for free). I installed it by myself in about a half hour (including the 4 flat connector I purchased at the same time). This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone.

Arrived quickly and well packed. It does have the bolt fishers in the parts package (4) so no need to purchase. The video is very accurate on how to install - except if your Impala is an "SS" or LTZ with dual exhausts you have both mufflers to drop - and you can't really just pull it to one side (as shown in the video) - as they are welded in a "Y". Still the installation is rated as a 4 out of 10, and that is really true. I did the fishing of the bolts, and the install of the fitted wire harness by myself - but had a helper to lift the hitch into position. Everything was done without the car jacked off the ground, and after watching the video - it was EASY. Thanks

by:

Installing the hitch was not difficult. All the bolts lined up good and no problem. Used a floor jack to help install I was by myself.

by:
2014 ChevroletImpala

I installed this hitch on my 2014 Impala w/out help. Took me almost 2hrs from start to finish. Not bad for a 80 year old man. Your video was right on. I backed the car up on metal ramps used for changing oil and used plastic crates under each muffler plus the strap to hold pipes from going too low. The crates let me rest the hitch on top of the mufflers so I could line up the bolts. I started a nut on one back bolt and went from there. Lining up one side at a time with a loose nut and once all nuts were on I tightened one and put washers on the rest and then went back and added washers to all.. Very easy for DIY.

by:
2001 ChevroletImpala

Was easy to install since my 2001 Chevy mpala back end sits high didn't have to use my jack. I plan to use a bike rack so I can take my kids bike riding at the park!

by:

The installation for this hitch was super easy! It literally took me just over a half hour from start to finish. .. honestly it took longer to find my wrenches.
After Dropping the exhaust down from the rubber hangers, I was surprised how easy the fish wires were to use. All of the holes lined up, and the bolts dropped into place. One of the simplest things I've done to my car ever! Almost ranks with putting gas in. LOL

by:
2011 ChevroletImpala

Very easy installation ! I'm very pleased with the results . I no longer have to rely on my buddies to haul my dirt bikes to the trails. Thanks etrailer

by:

Absolutely love the hitch super easy install just pull down the exhaust and bolt it in took no more than 30 minutes to fully complete. Lights were super easy just a clip on all had to do was remove the passenger tail light 10/10 would definitely recommend.

2009 ChevroletImpala

Installation was simple. Connector was easy. Good to go.

by:

I have purchased from them before and was satisfied, this time was no different!

by:

fit was excellent, after a year have had no problems. Liked the wire tool sent with the hitch to thread the bolts through the frame as it made it easy to accomplish a otherwise impossible task. I haul my dirt bike on this hitch and got a adaptor to make it a 2" receiver and raise the height of the carrier but the adaptor drags on elevated surfaces. Have to be careful when I go up a raise in the road, especially elevated driveways. Did buy a hitch tightener which really help stabilize my motorcycle carrier. Would buy again for sure.

by:

Very happy with the Draw-Tite hitch.

by:
2005 ChevroletImpala

Great, solid product. Installation was very simple. the wire retainers for the bolts worked very well. Would recommend!

by:

Great hitch, install was very easy with the threaded wire included making it easy to get the carriage bolts in the frame rails.

by:

The hitch seems like top quality. It installed pretty easy. The hardest part was lifting and bolting it in place. It looks great though and doesn't stick out at all. I am satisfied!

by:

Great product. Easy install. Great price! I have purchased several of these from e trailer and they fit perfect on all the cars I have put them on.

Still working great! I use it mainly for my bike rack. I love that it is tucked back and not very intrusive. But it’s still easy to get to to install the pin.

2006 ChevroletImpala

Perfect fit, one of the easiest hitch installations I've done. Installed this hitch by myself in less than an hour. Did it by backing the vehicle on ramps instead of using a jack. Start by removing the muffler hanger bracket bolts. On my 2006 Impala a socket could not be used. I had to loosen the 2 bolts with a boxed end, take pressure off muffler and remove them by hand. Hint - tie the muffler out of the way once the bolts are removed. The supplied fish wires made snaking the carriage bolts and retainers a breeze. 4 were included, but I only used 1. I lined the bolts up with the holes on the hitch and held it up with a knee and my left had. Got a nut on each side to hold it and put washers and nuts on the remaining bolts. Once snug, remove the nuts used to hold it and reinstall with washer. Tighten the 6 nuts, untie the muffler, put the two bolts back in the hanger bracket and you're done! Great looking hitch and easy to install.

Excellent hitch! Well designed, concealedbarely can be seen. Ive watched the installation video and my mechanic was stunned how simple is was, especially the special tool included to help to guide the bolts into the nuts inside the chassis. awesome. It was worth it every penny spent. Strongly recommend Etrailer.com.

by:

Good product selection and price, very fast shipping! It came four days before it was slated to arrive!

by:

The hitch was easier to install than I thought it would be. The most difficult part was manhandling the hitch while trying to install the nuts on the bolts. A helper would have been a huge labor and time saver but I managed. It took approximately an hour to complete the job.

I am very happy with the results. I like it that the hitch is not very noticable when veiwing from the back. It seems to be very solid and well built. I would recommend this product.

Looking into getting a hitch for my 04 Impala to pull a 14 foot fishing boat with a 40 hp. Can this be done without hurting my car?? Dry weight of boat 1090Lbs.

Patrick B.

10/22/2013

This hitch, along with a couple others, have a 3500 pound towing capacity. The hitch would definitely be up to the task. The more important question is, will the Impala handle the weight? To answer that, we need to head to the owners manual. It should list the towing capacity of the vehicle, remember this figure can vary based on engine, transmission and a host of other factors so we need to verify. You can also refer to the door sticker. It will have listed a GCWR, or Gross Combined Weight Rating. That is the total legal and approved weight of the car, anything in or on the car, and anything the car as pulling.

by:

The mounting holes did not match the holes in the chassis. I called customer support and they advised me to "pull real hard and stretch it to make it fit." Pull real hard? I was stunned speechless by the stupidity. Do you want a hitch that's so flimsy you can manually bend it? Ended up drilling new mount holes.

I appreciate your review. It is silly that your hitch receiver would arrive to you flexed. The reason why hitch receivers are flexible is in case of an accident, it would protect the rear of your vehicle. Please see the attached help article:

2008 ChevroletImpala

I have been extremely happy with the receiver hitch, ball mount and wiring harness which I purchased from etrailer for my Chevrolet Impala. The purchase was made in anticipation of a move to Hawaii where I would be moving the Impala but not my truck. The Impala with hitch has worked out just great with my 5 X 8 utility trailer. I have been moving everything from house rehab scraps to a full load of potten palms and not one problem. Thanks for selling such good products at a reasonable price.

  • Recommended Hitch And Combination Transmission/Oil Cooler For 2009 Chevrolet Impala
For your 2008 Chevrolet Impala, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 36407. This is a Class ll hitch and has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. The drawbar I recommend for this hitch is part # 36061. This features a 3-1/8 inch rise, and uses a hitch ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank. This includes the pin and clip. For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19257, and for a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19258. Transmission and oil coolers are not vehicle specific....
