Tongue Weight Rating for a Draw-Tite for a 2002 Chevy Impala Transporting an Electric Scooter
Question:
I plan on using this hitch that I purchased on a 2002 Impala to haul an electric scooter that weighs 186 lbs and I plan to attach a ramp that weights about 85 lbs. Im still under gross tongue weight for this 1 1/4 hitch, is that right?

The maximum tongue weight rating for this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36407 that you referenced is 300 lbs. The weight of your electric scooter and ramp combined equals 271 lbs, and if that is all the weight that would be on the hitch then yes you would be fine. My only question is if by ramp do you mean scooter carrier? Because if not, you will need to factor that weight into the total as well.
If are in need of a scooter carrier you should check out the OldenKamp Scooter Carrier # RHWC1114. This will work on 1-1/4 inch hitches, has the capacity to carry your scooter, and does not require the use of a ramp for loading as it can lower so that your scooter can be rolled onto it.
You should also count any weight behind the rear axle of your vehicle as tongue weight. So any cargo you have in the trunk of your vehicle will need to be added as tongue weight.
I attached installation instructions and an installation video for this product for you to check out also.
