I ordered this hitch on a Wednesday night, I chose the free shipping option instead of the more speedy 3 to 5 day paid for option. It arrived on my door step by that Friday at 11 a.m.! Less than 48 hrs. later! The quality of packaging was excellent. It came in a well built box completely protected. A side note, I used to work at UPS and saw many a trailer hitch come through with virtually no packaging. The installation was easy as it gets. I watched the excellent installation video, although I did not really need it. Took longer to get the tools out than it did to install. I was by myself so I used my hydraulic jack to lift and hold the hitch in place while I easily bolted the four bolts on. Etrailer far exceeded my expectations.

2013 Ford Edge

Hitch seems very well made. Welds are uniform, gussets and tabs are heavier than the truck frame. Bolts are grade 8. Fit was close with enough space to install easy.
Installed on a 2013 F150 truck. I did not bother to remove the spare tire.
The reason I did not give a 5 is minor. The one page of Instructions are technically correct but I feel lack a warning on installation. etrailer as part of the order sent an email with a question hot line which might alleviate the concern but I didn't bother to find out.
The issue, is hard to explain in words and I only note it so others can be careful.
The hitch is attached to the truck with four grade 8 bolts. Two of the bolts use two large holes in the frame (ACCESS HOLE on instructions). They are much larger than the 1/2 bolts. So to use these mount points they create a bushing out of two round washers and a large square washer (see picture). This is an adequate design if correctly installed. The problem is with the tolerances on the parts if you’re not careful when tightening one of the round washers may pinch on the edge of the access hole. It will seem tight (110 ft lbs is a lot of torque) but under trailering load a slight shift will move this washer and cause the bolt to be loose. The instruction say to "periodically check to be sure all fasteners are tight...". How many do?
I noticed a slight space between the hitch and the truck frame when the bolts were tight and didn’t like it. What I did was back off on the bolts and wiggled the hitch until I felt the washers center in the larger frame hole then completed the torqueing to spec. I also used LOC-TITE on the bolts.
So if you see any space between the hitch and the truck frame when the bolts are tight you might have this issue and have a loose bolt later that may go unnoticed.

This is the forth trailer hitch I have installed on four different trucks. It is the best quality of them all and would recommend ti to anyone. Also purchased a Curt Trailer Brake Controller at the same time which was easy to install and works better then any I have previously owned , Great online source and people to work with.

My husband wanted to haul some heavy equipment from OK to TX but the truck to be used did not have a trailer hitch. A friend recommended etrailer.com. We were amazed at the quantity and quality of products.

We ordered a trailer hitch and soon received an email that our shipping status had been upgraded free of charge. The hitch arrived faster than a jackrabbit on moonshine.

My husband said it was the nicest hitch he'd ever seen, and the install was smooth. Unexpectedly, he found the perfect lathe for sale in Wisconsin. He just left to pick it up and has total faith in this hitch.

Thanks for the great price, great product, and great communication. We are fans forever.

Easy install, looks great and I feel much better with this setup. Definitely drop spare tire to torque bolts down.

by:
2013 Ford F-150

Haven’t towed anything yet but the install went just like the video. I highly suggest you watch the video prior to doing the install. And yes, lower the spare tire for the extra room, and check the air since you have it down! I had just a slight issue as the flanges on my pickup were slightly wider than the space between the flanges on the hitch but with a pry bar and little muscle I was able to get it started and then in “slid” on up into place. Remember the hitch flanges both go to the outside of the truck flanges. It looks great installed. So far, all is good.

by:

The receiver hitch I ordered from you came much quicker than I expected and I really appreciate the fast shipping. Luckily I had a little free time and got right after it. I started the installation at 3:49 pm and took the completion photo at 4:04 pm. I was amazed at how well the hitch was engineered to fit and how quick and easy it was for me to do. Even though I was alone and working in my grass yard. Thank you for your fast service

by:

The receiver has performed well. I don't recommend a one person install like I did, a second pair of hands is invaluable.

by:
2014 Ford F-150

Ordering process was quick and easy! The hitch came on time as promised. Installation was easy and it fit perfectly. Did it by myself with the exception of a little help from a floor jack. I left the spare in place I just had to loosen it up a bit to allow space for my torque wrench. Only very minor gripe is your parts sticker is hard to remove; it would be much easier to remove if it was vinyl.

by:

I still have it in my garage, didn’t realize it was for truck without Existing factory hitch and by the time I realized it, it was to late to return. Trying to sell it

by:

The highest praise I can think of for a hitch is "I haul whatever my truck needs to haul and never think about my hitch." And that's exactly what I've got here. In a year, I haven't thought about my hitch or worried that it will be the problem when I'm towing something. Looks solid, and it felt solid from the moment I took it out of the box. It does exactly what I want it to.
It was easy to install. I was able to attach mine solo, but an extra set of hands would make it even simpler. From there, I've just used it without ever once wondering if it will function as a hitch.

by:
2012 Ford F-150

I must have received a defective hitch. The mounting brackets were bent inwards by an extra inch not allowing the hitch to slide into place as it should. What should have been a 15 minute job turned into a 1.5 hour job. After beating the brackets with a deadblow hammer they bent to where they should have been. The box arrived in good condition so it appears to have been a manufacturing defect. The hitch looks nice now that it is installed I just did not anticipate the extra work.

When a trailer hitch is constructed, softer steel is used in the side plates as opposed to the harder steel used in the crossbar and receiver tube. This allows the hitch to flex along with the vehicle to a certain degree. Unfortunately, this flexibility can also allow the hitch to get slightly bent out of position during shipping and handling. Due to the fact that the box was in good condition, it would seem that the hitch was bent during shipping from the manufacturer to our facility. The good news is that its very easy to fix this if you know a few tricks as shown in the linked article.

2009 Ford F-150

Package came pretty quick. Just got done installing it. Pretty simple bolt on construction. Nothing hard. I did have to lower the spare tire to get the torque wrench on the back bolts, but it says in the description you may have to do that. At this point I am happy. We’ll see over time how it holds up, but I’m confident that it’ll give me years of reliable service.

1 year later and still going strong. Not a single issue.

by:

Heavy duty and strong. Arrived quickly, took 30 mins to install. Pulled trailers maxed in weight and this hitch never moved an inch, even when my F150 with 5.0L V8 was maxed in towing strength.

by:

After finally getting it installed, which I was able to do solo, no thanks to friends or family. Cant say anything but the best about your trailer hitch. Easily bolted to truck frame, no extra drilling, have towed an enclosed trailer from Plano, TX. To Kansas City, Mo. Towed boats & car haulers. Silent lock for hitch worth every penny & claims made. Thanks so much for a superior product.

  • Can Trailer Hitch From 2010 Ford F150 Be Installed on 2017 F-150
Your 2010 Ford F-150 and the 2017 are of different generations of the vehicle, so unfortunately there were enough changes to the rear structure of the truck that they can't use the same hitch. The good news is that there are still tons of 2010 F-150s on the road. If you felt like removing the hitch you could sell it on a buy/sell/trade website and use the proceeds towards a new hitch. For your 2017 model, I'd recommend the Curt Class IV hitch, part # C26HR. The hitch can handle up to 10000...

For the strongest hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class IV - 2" # C14002 which is rated for up to 10,000 lbs. This will be a replacement and an upgrade from your previous hitch.
