Does Curt Hitch for 2014 Ford F-150 Allow Spare Tire to Remove When Needed
Question:
I see that the Curt custom fit IV hitch requires the spare tire to be removed when installed. Question! Once the hitch has been installed do you have access to the spare tire without removing the hitch each time? Also! my old truck had a female plug about 4inch sq mounted to my bumper or hitch frame, not sure. It also came with a plug and wiring harness that just plugged into that. I plan on purchasing a travel trailer, can you recommend a plug such as this for this hitch.

You would have access to the spare of the vehicle with the Curt hitch part # C14002 installed on your 2014 Ford F-150.
Your truck should have trailer wiring on it already. It either has a 7-way or a 4-way connector. It is possible that there is nothing there currently but I'd need you to check what you have there first to determine the best route to install the correct wiring. If there is nothing you'd need to start with part # 18252.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
