What Is Thickness Of Material On Class lV Trailer Hitch For 2011 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a 2011 Ford F150 w/tow package. The problem I am having is I do a lot of towing w/load equal bars attached. My receiver opening for my 2inch male is now 2 1/4inch top to bottom at the rear side of receiver. So my question is my receiver thickness at the opening is 1/4inch w/ a wrap of next size Square tube which is also 1/4inch thick. Does this class IV hitch have thicker tubing? thanks

The Class lV trailer hitch that is designed to fit your 2011 F-150 is the Curt Hitch, part # C14002.

This hitch has a 2 inch receiver opening. I went to the warehouse and measured the receiver material. It measures 1/4 inch thick. I measured a Class lll hitch as well and found the same measurement for the receiver tube. These hitches have been tested to be able to at least handle the capacity they are listed for.

You want to make sure you do not exceed the capacity of the truck or the trailer hitch when towing to prevent excessive wear on the hitch or possible damage to the truck.
