Will Yakima Bighorn 4 Bike Rack Clear Spare Tire on 2008 Toyota Rav4

Question:

Hi I have a 2008 Toyota Rav4, wanted to know if the Yakima Bighorn 4 bike rack will clear the spare tire on the back of the Rav4. Or would i require a hitch extension. let me know thanks

In order to determine if your Yakima Bighorn bike rack will clear your spare tire, you'll need to find the distance between the hitch pin hole in the receiver tube and the furthest rearward part of the spare tire. The shank length (hitch pin hole to closest portion of bike rack) of the bike rack will need to be longer than the pin hole to end of spare tire dimension.

For instance, when we installed the Curt trailer hitch # C13149 on a 2008 Toyota Rav4, we found the hitch pin hole to rear of spare tire distance to be 6 inches. According to my contact at Yakima the Bighorn bike rack measures 11-1/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin to the the back of the upright bar. If your measurements are similar you should have no problem clearing the spare tire.
