Today, we're going to review Part# 5973. This is the Draw-Tite 2-5/16" diameter Remov-a-Ball Gooseneck Hitch Ball. Now this part is a replacement Gooseneck Ball for the Remov-a-Ball Gooseneck trailer hitches made by Draw-Tite and Reese. Basically those gooseneck hitches would allow you to drop this ball into place and then a pin would go through the hole right in here to lock it into place. Then when you pull the handle, remove the pin, you can remove it from the hitch itself. This is the replacement ball. The ball diameter up here is 2-5/16".
The shank diameter right down here, we're going to measure, is right at 2-1/4". The shank height from the bottom to the very bottom of the ball here is going to be 2-3/4". And then just a few measurements, the diameter of the hole is 3-1/4" and the measurement from the center of that hole to the base at the bottom is 1-1/4, and from the center of that hole to the bottom to the ball is 1-1/2". This ball it has stamp on the top, has a 30,000 pound weight capacity and it is also stamped 2-5/17" diameter. That should do it for the review on Part# 5973, the Draw-Tite 2-5/16" Remov-a-Ball Gooseneck Hitch Ball.

I couldn't be happier with this product. I bought a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 dually with a gooseneck under bed hitch installed but, I had no idea what it was due to the recently installed bed liner. I was in a bind, trying to find a ball to fit the hitch already installed (and manufacturer covered with spray on liner >:-/) and, being a newbie at gooseneck towing, I bought any old ball from Amazon. I learned my lesson that a B&W square post doesn't go in a round hole, and called the local trailer shop. They had to sell me the whole shebang (mount and ball), so I looked online instead. The descriptions here helped me find the right diameter shaft, and I was able to match the hitch in my bed with one on here, and then the cross-referencing and help articles listed with multiple balls (I almost got the hide-a-ball until I read part of the description) helped me find this exact match for my mount! Most gooseneck trailer balls have too short of a neck for trailer socket to clear ball plate when crossing rough terrain, which applies extreme pressure on ball as well as trailer neck. E-trailer had tall 2 5/16” balls, good steel, very well made!
