Curt Pop-In Ball # C60601 is designed specifically for 2011 to 2018 Ford trucks with the factory installed gooseneck prep package or 2013 to 2018 Ram trucks with the factory installed gooseneck prep package. If the truck you bought is not one of those then this ball won't fit even if the shank is the right size (shank is 2-1/4 inches in diameter). You didn't mention the year, make, and model of the truck so if you can give me that information I can see which gooseneck hitches are available for it and which replacement balls fit. That will narrow it down.

Thank you for the information. If the shaft that the ball shank fits into is round and not square then that eliminates B&W. Also a 2 inch depth would not be enough to store the ball on a B&W hitch. If the hitch has a Z-shaped handle slot like on hitch # 6300-4457 then the ball for it is # 5973. But this ball has an overall shank length of 2-3/4 inches. If the hitch does not have any kind of handle at all then that is an indication that it could be the underbed Reese Elite hitch and if that is the case then you could use Curt ball # C60601. When you are measuring make sure that the tape measure isn't making contact with anything in the hole. For example if it does have a rod/pin that goes through to hold the ball and you are measuring down to it the measurement would be shorter than any ball shank that is available. Can you possibly email me some pictures of the hitch?
