I had accidentally run over the hitch on my "mail order" trailer and was afraid that I could not find a replacement because the particular part appeared to be somewhat rare. However, after a brief amount of browsing on etrailer.com, I found the EXACT item I needed. The specific dimensions, photos, and other documentation on the website really helped assure me that this was an identical hitch. And it was! Thank you etrailer.com for helping me fix my trailer. Easy to install, and the new hitch also works so much better that the original, which was an added bonus.

Looks good and came right on time.

Nice replacement for the rusted coupler (unused for for over 20 years, covered with dirt!) on my Long Chih LCI-851T folding trailer, which I bought as a kit from Home Depot in days gone by. The coupler seems to be well build and finished. It matches the OEM 2,000-lb rating. My order was fulfilled, well packed, and shipped quickly with delivery on the date promised. Thanks to etrailer.com, I'm very happy with their service. I haven't done a fit check yet, since the trailer is 325 miles away from me right now, but I think the channel width and bolt holes will be perfect. My one, small demerit is that labels affixed to the top of the coupler were gouged before the unit was shipped to me. Inconsequential parts-bin rash maybe, but a bit disappointing.

The replacement coupler perfectly matched the Long Chih LCI-851T tongue’s side bolt holes, but not its top holes. The new coupler has a better design with both top bolts through the tongue, not just the rear bolt. I used the new unit as a template for two new 38 top holes. After that tweak, coupler installation was easy. It has been excellent in use.

by:

Bolted right up. Good fit. Had to drill out the lever pin holes a little though so my pin would fit.

by:

The correct coupler was delivered and it fit perfectly. Thank you.

by:

I changed my coupler so that both of my trailers use the same size ball. Minus one star for having big annoying stickers that don't come off easily; had to soak them off and finish up the job with Gunk Off.

by:

replacing what was on my Gator lawn trailer with this product adding ball and raised mount to pull trailer around in yard great product will attach using pre drilled top holes to trailer tongue

still works great bent part you sent when over loaded trailer and went down yard at steep angle my fault need to reorder wish I had used military hook for both ends

by:

Used this on my yard cart for my lawnmower so I could leave the ball in the hitch plate to move stuff around the yard. no complaints here - holding fine in the elements. Definitely worth the money and as advertised

by:

Good product for the price. Delivered when promised.

by:

I can always trust that what is described is what I will get. Quick processing and shipping.

by:

This was what I needed after the cheap ball hitch on my little trailer broke. It is much heavier duty than the cheap ones and galvanized to boot. Nice price, too, not much more than the el cheapo at the big-box store.

by:

Bought this to replace coupler on my foldable RedTrailer. Perfect match -- even the holes for the bolts lined up. Reused pin from old coupler.

by:

Perfect fit for the 2 1/2" channel on my utility trailer. Very easy installation and seems to be very well made. Happy with this purchase.

by:

Got it delivered and installed yesterday. Just what I needed. I always check e-trailer first when looking for towing related stuff... have been for a number of years.

by:

Web site easy to use and prices very reasonable, Product arrived today and it looks very well engineered - well worth the price. Delivery price was reasonable and timely.
Good goin ETrailor

by:

Fit the trailer like a glove. It was easy to install.

by:

works good on a garden trailer

by:

Purchased as a replacement for an old coupler. Working perfectly.

by:

Fit right still working today after a year of good use. No issues.

by:

what can I say... it's exaaaactlyyy as predicted.

by:

Fits as stated. will only have to slot the two front holes as stated in your question and answer section.

by:

very heavily made - a surprising value!

  • 2-Inch Ball Straight Tongue Coupler for Home-Built Ice House Trailer with 2-1/2-Inch-Wide Tongue
We have three straight-tongue trailer couplers like # CT-2002-Z that will fit a 2-inch ball and mount on a 2-1/2-inch wide channel tongue. All of these are rated for 3500-lbs and can be seen on the linked page. If you need to drill a hole in either the trailer tongue (to match the coupler) or in the new coupler (to match the hole in the trailer tongue) it is kind of a toss up since the home-built trailer has no warranty from a manufacturer. But since the coupler is a fairly inexpensive...

I went out to the warehouse and found the the outside of the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CT-2002-Z measures about 1-15/16" while the inside (to the curve) measures about 1-1/2". I have attached a diagram for demonstration.

  • Best Replacement for Valley Trailer Coupler Model 5105

Unfortunately, there aren't any trailer coupler repair kits for this model and they are not universal.

  • Replacement Coupler Options for a 1963 Boat Trailer With 1-7/8" Fulton Coupler
The only Fulton coupler repair kits we carry are the # F670801 and # F640801 which are for much heavier duty couplers. Due to the age of your trailer you will most likely have to replace your coupler unless you can find the parts from a used coupler. I do see we have a few options depending on the width of the pole tongue on your trailer. We have a 2" # CT-2001-Z, 2-1/2" # CT-2002-Z or 3" # CT-2003-Z option. All of these are capable of bolting on to the tongue, have a 1-7/8" ball fitment...

  • Coupler for 2-1/2-Inch Straight Trailer Tongue
We have all sorts of trailer couplers including straight tongue couplers that will fit a 2-1/2-inch channel tongue that is often found on a boat trailer. You can see all of these standard couplers on the linked page. For a 2-inch ball size you can use 3500-lb coupler # DL13847 or # F222500301 which are both bolt on installation. If you need a coupler for a 1-7/8-inch ball size instead use part # CT-2002-Z which is rated for 2000-lbs. This is also a bolt on item.

  • Replacement Trailer Coupler for 2-1/2 Inch Channel with 1-7/8 Inch Ball Coupler
The only coupler we have that is a fit for your 1-7/8 inch ball and 2-1/2 inch channel is the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CT-2002-Z. The bolt holes on this are 2-1/4 inches on center instead of 2-1/2 inches.

  • Straight Tongue Trailer Coupler for Harbor Freight Folding Trailer 90154
The only straight tongue trailer coupler we offer for a 1-7/8" hitch ball that fits a 2-1/2" wide channel is the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler part # CT-2002-Z. The bolt holes on this coupler are spaced 2-1/4" apart. Unfortunately, I don't have the specs on your trailer so you will need to measure the bolt hole spacing yourself and compare that to the above. We do not have a repair kit for the trailer coupler you have now.

  • Replacement Towbar, Coupler, and Caster Wheel Availability for an LCI-851T Trailer
I found a parts list online but it looks like the only thing we carry that would fit your LCI-851T trailer is a replacement coupler. We have 1-7/8" hitch ball couplers that fit a 2" channel # CT-2001-Z, 2-1/2" channel # CT-2002-Z, and a 3" channel # CT-2003-Z depending on the size of the towbar. We don't have any towbar (I-beams) or caster wheels for your trailer though so if this is an older trailer you may consider investing in a new trailer that you can easily find replacement parts for.

  • Recommended Trailer Coupler For Trailer Tongue That Is 2-1/2 inches Wide
The closest we come to the 2-1/2 inch center to center measurement of the mounting holes you have on your coupler and trailer are 2-1/4 inches, just as you said you have found. The trailer coupler I recommend is part # CT-2002-Z. This is a 2,000-lb coupler that works with a 1-7/8 inch ball and the mounting holes are 2-1/4 inches apart. With the holes on your trailer tongue you would only be off by 1/8 inch on each. You could ream the holes a fraction and use this coupler. You can have...
