Video Transcript for Titan Straight Tongue Trailer Coupler - Standard Coupler - T1755000 Review

Today were going to take a quick look at the Titan weld on Coupler for two and five sixteenth balls part number t1755000. This is a weld on coupler designed to be used with trailers that have three inch wide tongues. Well take a measurement here of the inside width and well get our three inches. The coupler has an overall length of about nine and half inches. Its finished in a gray primer so you can come back and paint it whatever color youd like to match your trailer. It has a gross trailer weight capacity of 21,000 pounds.

The latch system is a little bit different than on many other trailer couplers. Theres a safety release here that youll have to pull up in order to open the latch. To close it all you have to do is pull it forward. You do want to make sure that the safety is set properly. When the safety is down in place in the slot the latch cant come open until you pull this.

You can also use a coupler lock here to secure it and prevent the safety release from coming up that way youre guaranteed that the trailer cant come uncoupled while youre pulling it down the road or you can prevent theft while its in storage. Now well show you how the system works from underneath. Inside the ball socket area theres a piece of tubular metal here that fits around the back of the ball. Well pull our safety release and open the lever and you can see that piece of metal move back and out of the way. As we pull the latch forward it drops back down into place.

Now weve got a two and five sixteenth ball with us so well show you how it works with the ball. With that piece of steel there we cant get the ball in. Well open the latch and our ball fits into the socket. Now well close the latch and that piece of metal moves forward and fits around the backside of the ball. Now our balls secured and it allows travel for smooth towing behind the vehicle.

Thats it for a quick look at the Titan weld on Coupler for two and five sixteenth balls part number t1755000.

All was great thank you

This coupler does what it's supposed to do and is stout. But it's finicky hitching up. If there is any back pressure at all, it will not seat. Sometimes I'll need to drive in reverse and hit the brakes hard to get it to fully seat so I can put the pin in.

I have three other trailers with different coupler types that all function smoothly. This is the only one that can be a pain.

No change since initial review. Its built stout. Trailer needs to pull rearward against tow vehicle to fully seat the locking mechanism. Its maybe what youd expect from a Value Line product does the job, but not as smoothly as a higher end coupler.

just got them and they look great!!

It was a perfect addition to my trailer. It strengthened the connector and gave me peace of mind.

The connector has worked flawlessly. It has been a great addition to the trailer.

by:

Received the coupler yesterday. 45 minutes later it was on.

by:

the operation of the latch is good, the fit to the tongue is a little loose, mine req'd clamping, hammering and filling the gap with a few passes of 7018, it was about .25 large (better than too small). Unit looks superior to the bulldog units i have on other trailers (they seem to stiffen up after a few years in the weather).

by:

Very Loose fit (almost 1/4") with standard 3"heavy wall tubing.Adds extra time to install. Locking latch opens nice, but closing it is unnecessarily difficult (flawed design). compared to my 25yr old Atwood. I don't regret purchasing this item. Although these are issues that buyers should be aware of.

by:

Exact fit for replacement on equipment hauling trailer. Heavy-duty. Holding up and operating fine.

by:

The latch binds up having to use a bar to get it to open

by:

It is what I thought it would be, a trailer coupler

It was supposed to fit on a 3 inch tube. But the inside dimention was about 3 5/16"

The inside dimension will be slightly wider then 3 inches in order to have room to be welded on.

by:
