Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

2009 Honda Odyssey
1. High quality Good Year hose and decent real hose clamps
2. I'm not a fan of "through the condensor-rad zap straps"; I made up aluminum brackets and mounted the tranny cooler and power steering cooler with 1/4" bolts (nylock nuts) to the bumper so it was about 1/2" from condensor.
3. Hose size matched Honda factory size perfectly. Hoses were a tight fit, so I used pliers to rotate oiled hose back and forth over the nipple while I pushed very hard.
4. power steering cooler: NO mounts so I used 3 insulated wire clamps clamped over the tubing to mount it to an aluminum U-shaped-bracket. I cut the pwr steering factory line, flared the end and used the factory hose with a formed 90° bend into the top of the pwr strg cooler. I later (not in pic) used more aluminum to move pwr strg cooler back closer to condensor. The plastic end caps you mounted on the power steering cooler seemed flimsy and loose.
I am confident I will have a reliable journey through Yosemite, Death Valley and Tahoe over the next 2 weeks.

I bought the PS cooler for my Honda Odyssey so I could tow a trailer without voiding the warranty. While towing, you are usually required to turn off your overdrive. This makes the engine spin a little faster and increase the heat of the PS fluid. I was able to tow a small 4x8 uhaul trailer from Denver to San Diego without any problems. I also installed a "plate/ fin" transmission cooler from the 8000 series I believe. Towing a trailer can really add a lot of heat to your trans so this is a must too. I really must say I like the videos you post on YouTube to help installation. I watched them to the point I had them memorized! It's a tricky and tight job but something a good backyard mechanic can handle. I also bought my trailer hitch from Etrailer. Everything worked perfectly. One suggestion is to buy two packages of the trans cooler hose because it can be tough to find out in town if you need a little more. I highly recommend this setup and Etrailer is great to deal with.

Installed today on 2007 Honda Odyssey. Went OK, not great. Removed top panel, bottom splash guard, and grill, but left bumper and bumper cover on and that seemed to work just fine and saved me some time. These zip rods are a pain and it only came with 2? Needs at least 3. Its square. How are just two suppose to secure this thing sufficiently? I had to add my own regular zip ties. But, even worse, the kit doesn't come with enough hose. I know its a universal kit, but how much would it raise the price to include a couple extra feet of line? Now, I have to go find some more line at a local store and pay the brick and mortar premium. The factory line from the ps res isn't long enough to bend 180 and run back out to this cooler. disappointing, but really not the fault of the product I guess since its a universal kit.
Now, for the real test- towing to the max 3500lbs for a two month, 4000 miles road trip. if I still have a working ps pump after that, I will give it the 5 stars.

So far this has been excellent.. only thing I don't like is the design for mounting.. they expect you to mount it to the radiator with a special type of zip tie.. mine have held on but what if you need to replace your radiator?

Arrived in great shape! Had dealer install it along with Transmission cooler. Took about 4 hours for dealer to install both coolers, so thankful I didn't try to do it on my own.

This went in relatively easy. I had to buy larger hose to connect to the car, as the hose that came with it was too small to connect in the car.
I've had this in for over a year, and have towed twice in that time, no problems at all.

- Are Power Steering Coolers Designed to Fit Specific VehiclesPower steering coolers are not designed or made to fit specific vehicles, and though the Derale 4-Pass Tube-Fin Power Steering Cooler # D13212 with 11/32" hose barb inlets is very likely to work, we do not have access to the specific fittings for your 2013 Ford Expedition or any other vehicle. The only way to do this for sure is to place a quick call to your local Ford dealer, who should be able to give you this information.

Everything is still working as originally installed. No leaks or loosening of the tie down straps detected. My complaint would be with Honda for not installing both coolers as original equipment. The Honda PS cooler is completely inadequate for towing. It actually is just a piece of tubing in the airflow in front of the radiator. The Honda front end is a very tight package so you need a nice clean garage where you can take everything apart and not be rushed. Watch those videos too before beginning the project
