Recommended Power Steering And Transmission Coolers For 2005 Honda Pilot
Question:
Hello, Do I need a power steering cooler? I have a 2005 Honda Pilot EX. I tow two things Dirt bikes for up to 3 hours. Trailer + dirtbikes = 1800 lbs Firewood for 45 minutes or less 3 or 4 times per year. trailer + firewood = 2500 - 3000 lbs. Thanks!

Adding additional coolers to any vehicle helps the vehicle performance and increase the life of the vehicle components like transmissions, and power steering units. You will need to make sure you have the room to install a cooler you choose. Second is the location. For the greatest efficiency mounting the cooler between the vehicle grille and the AC condenser is best.
For a power steering cooler I recommend the Derale 4-pass Power Steering Cooler, part # D13212. I have attached a link to an installation video for this cooler you can take a look at.
I then recommend installing a transmission cooler if you are placing your pilot under a load a few times a year. For a cooler the larger the cooler the better.
The cooler I recommend is part # D13503. This cooler measures 11-inches Wide x 8-3/4-inches tall x 7/8-inch deep. I have attached a link to an installation video for this cooler on a Pilot you can check out.
