Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Bearing Buddy Chrome-Plated Bearing Protectors, these are a Model 1980 and they come as a pair. Now, these will replace the grease caps on your axle hub, they'll provide your trailer bearings with premium protection. Basically, they'll prevent wheel bearing failure by providing an easy way to control the grease volume that's in your axle hub. They'll also keep water and dirt out of your hubs and bearings, so it allows your boat trailer wheels to be completely submerged in the water, and it'll help stop corrosion and pitting on the bearings. If you noticed, right here in the middle, it provides this easily accessible grease zerk fitting, so it makes adding grease to your bearings very quick and simple, you just connect your grease gun to there and pump the grease in there.

It will maintain a slight controlled pressure, about three psi, with the spring loaded piston right here, and this will prevent water from entering your hubs. This will prevent overfilling and rear seal damage with that automatic pressure relief feature. What happens is the grease will seep around your piston edges and into the barrel when it's full. Now, this is constructed of stainless steel internal parts and triple chrome-plated steel barrel. It does ensure long lasting fit compared to your plastic or aluminum products.

It does, if you noticed, include these rubber protective covers, so after this is installed and you're ready to go, just put your cover over there, and that'll protect it from any dirt or elements getting into that, and then when you're ready to grease it, just pop off your protective cover, and just like that, then you have access to that zerk fitting. Now, these do install easily onto your hub. Basically, this portion back here will be the correct diameter for your hub size, and then you'll just put this up against your hub, remove your grease cap, put this up against the hub, and then put a piece of block up against the Bearing Buddy, and then by tapping that wooden block, it'll push this into place, very easy to install. These parts are made in the USA. Now, this part here is designed to fit a hub board diameter of 1.980 inches, this also comes available in other diameters to correctly fit your hub size, so you do wanna make sure to get the correct hub size for your application.

This one here, the 1.980 size, will work with outer bearing model numbers of L-44643, L-44649, and the L-44640, those part number bearings are commonly found on 2,000 pound, 2,500 pound, and 3,500 pound Dexter Axles.
