Rotating Arms with Ratcheting Wheel Hooks

Kuat NV22G ratcheeting wheel hooks

The NV 2.0 has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel - not the frame. It's perfect for carrying carbon bikes or bikes with a custom paint job. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook.

Large Front Wheel Cradles

Kuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting strapsKuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps

The front wheel cradles will easily accommodate fat bike wheels. They can also be adjusted to perfectly fit each bike's wheelbase. Use the included Allen key stored in the compartment at the back of the rack to adjust.

Sliding Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Straps

Kuat NV22G sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps

Ratcheting rear-wheel straps slide along the wheel trays to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. Press the quick-release button on the strap buckle to remove your bikes. An extender strap is included for use with 1 fat bike. Additional extender straps (sold separately) are available if you have more than 1 fat bike.

Foot Lever for Easy Tilting and Folding

Kuat NV22G hitch tightening adjustment knob

The spring-loaded foot lever is easily accessible even with your bikes loaded. No more crawling through your bikes or squeezing between the rack and the vehicle to hit the tilt release lever.

Kuat NV 2.0 tilting rackKuat NV 2.0 folding rack

The foot lever lets you tilt the rack down with bikes loaded for cargo area access. It leaves both hands free so that you can lower the rack in a controlled manner. When the rack is unloaded you can fold it up for storage.

Built-In Repair Stand

Kuat NV22B built-in repair stand

The Trail Doc is a handy repair stand that attaches to the front of the rack. It lets you position your bike as needed for adjustments, cleaning, and on-the-go repairs. It can be also be locked into place to prevent theft and includes a cap for the housing if you prefer to use the rack without it.

Kuat NV22B adjustable built-in stand

A spring-loaded clamp grabs your bike by the seat post or top tube. It has a soft, rubber coating that won't scratch your bike's paint. The rotating clamp arm lets you adjust the angle of your bike and the locking collar secures your bike at the desired height.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Kuat NV22G anti rattle device

The knob at the front of the shank lets you quickly and easily install the rack. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. The knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge inside the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. The locking hitch pin has an Allen tool on the end that further tightens the hand knob if you are still experiencing rattle after hand-tightening.

Love this bike rack! The NV 2.0 firmly keeps my road bike and beach cruiser securely in place. The added lock is a great feature for keeping the bikes safe after a day of riding. Even on my tiny Corolla the rack looks and fits great. I never have to worry about the bikes when they're locked onto the NV 2.0

by:

Ok at 1 year I still remember how good customer service is with etrailer.com. This rack remains awesome as well, favorite features are the locks and the flip down capability so even with bikes loaded I can open the back hatch of my SUV with no issues. Also I think it is easy to take on and off so I don't just drive around with it on, hangs easily in the garage.

by:

so far so good. easy to put together if you watch a video first and have one helper.

by:

Arrived in great shape, no dings or missing parts. Got it together with the help of my daughter and studying the assembly diagram closely. Ended up putting it together on the dining room table. Can't wait to use it!

by:

This thing is built like a tank! It is of the best fit and funtion I have seen in a bike rack! Solid as can be, fits my bikes perfectly and looks awesome! Plus it folds completely out of the way to access the rear liftgate on my 2022 Rav4!

by:

Great service from etrailer and the rack arrived as expected. Fairly easy assembly. OK video on Kuat’s site, but didn’t cover the foot pedal. Really glad we got the 2” hitch. It tightened up and we’re impressed with the quality and the stability of the rack. We haven’t done a road test yet, but look forward to putting it to the test. We have a Ford F-150 and it works great. The bikes were fairly easy to load with the batteries out and two people. We do need the strap extenders for our RadMini Step Thru’s. The tires are too big for the ones that come with. Only one set of extenders came with the bike and one adapter for a smaller tire. It’s okay, but since it’s a two bike unit, would have been nice to have both extenders. Otherwise, we are really liking the look and stability.

I have had my Kuat NV 2.0 4-Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Metallic Black for a month now. Amazing engineering. Solid rack. I have four or five old (cheaper) racks and this is the best rack I have ever seen by far. Extremely happy with this. I will reserve comment on whether or not a bike rack should cost $xx.xx but it’s a great rack.

Possible improvements:

1) The rack is just too heavy. With the amazing engineers that worked on this, knocking 10 lbs off the rack would be easy. I know it is one of the lighter ones available but it is still too heavy. The center rail is all steel and the heaviest part. The outer part of the swing arms are steel (inner part is aluminum). The arms have really nice bushings on the hinges. The whole thing is amazing, well-built, and well-engineered. IDEA 1: lightweight the center rail by using U-lube instead of square tube. Or just make holes through the top and bottom of he square rail. IDEA 2) The Aluminum platforms are amazing. But use less Al and more plastic. The ones for the back tire add significant weight.
2) Someone came up with a great idea for dealing with one aspect of the weight problem. One problem is that at 54 lbs. when you put it in the receiver it’s hard to align the hitch pin hole by yourself. So I kludged up a stop using a ring clamp and some plastic tubing. I was going to tap a hole in the center rail for a stop screw but then I could not adjust the depth for different vehicles. So I went with the ring clamp. When installing it (see photo) I noticed that someone already had a great idea and tapped a hole to add a stop. I assume there is an adjustable clip that is secured by the recessed screw. But I did not receive the clip. I just have a beautifully designed tapped hole and recessed screw with no way to use it. Probably an easy answer to this one but i didn't get a clip and didn't see this referenced in the instructions at all.
3) Back tire surface. It almost doesn’t matter where you ride the mountain bike, somewhere along the trial there is sandy, gravely surface that gets on your tires. I have gone in five ‘dirt’ trails and covered my tires with smooth mud thinking that I wasn’t going to hit sand. Then when I get back to the parking lot the mud collects the sandy gravel—either in the gravel parking lot or at the edge of the asphalt lot. Then I put the bike on the beautiful smooth aluminum carrier and scratch it. There should be an improvement to resurface the area where the back tire goes. It looks like there has been some weak attempt to provide a plastic coat but it doesn’t work. I am going to buy some rubberized truck-bed liner or spray rubberized spray rust proofer to refinish this.
4) Last possible improvement. The only people that should be buying this bike rack are people with high end mountain bikes. The reason for the platform carrier is to accommodate the odd frame geometry of mountain bikes and to protect the full suspension from dangling and getting air in the cylinders. If you have a full carbon road bike then just hang it on the back of your car with a $200 bike rack. And no one is going to carry $120 steel Walmart BLO’s with a $xx.xx platform carrier. They are going to strap them to the roof of their minivan. So you could even make this carry less weight capacity to make it lighter. And just tell people to put the 60 lb bike (like ebikes) closest to vehicle and lighter bikes in the back. EVERYONE has a lighter bike… either aluminum, carbon, or just a kids bike. This rack can carry 250 lbs of bikes (4 x 60+). The market for carrying 250lbs of bikes is nearly zero.

delivery was perfect. Assembly was easy with two people; probably could do it with one.

As you can tell, it is a real stretch to find anything wrong with this. But my minor comments are above.

by:

Rack arrived today. I will not lie, it is heavy and therefore cumbersome to assemble. Despite that, I was able to assemble and install it in just under one hour. I did this on my own, another person would have cut this time in half. The rack checks all the boxes of wants and needs. That same weight noted before makes it rock solid. The anti-rattle feature to tighten the hitch is wonderful. Handle/pedal to change from upright position to bike holding rack to tilt away from my Subaru 2010 Forester was incredibly simple and smooth. I was all set to buy the Thule T2 Pro XT 2 and a friend told me about this Kuat NV 2.0. I am so happy. I knew it was more expensive, but free shipping and price was discounted at checkout when I purchased it from etrailer.com. Great surprise. This rack is well thought out, has superb quality features, and I am convinced that I made the best choice. All things aside, it also really looks nice.

by:

My Kuat NV 2. Bike Rack is the best bike rack I have ever owned. It is excellent for electric bikes. Very easy to load bikes and holds bikes very securely.

by:

This thing is rock solid. No teetering/swaying with bikes on it at all after you adjust the hitch tension knob. It also looks great if you care about that type of thing. Highly recommend getting the dock as well so you can mount it on the garage wall when not in use. Also two thumbs up to the etrailer staff who quickly replaced a small damaged part which was damaged while in transit with UPS/Fedex.

by:

Assembly was not as difficult as I expected. After watching some videos, the instructions do make sense. I also used the box with some of the foam packing to support the frame because, as suggested, it easier to put together"upside down". Once it's together it seems very solid and well made. Installing on my 2017 Hyundai Tucson Eco was simple and easy to do. Putting the bike on the rack was even easier and will make impromptu bike rides no problem when I'm by myself. In the pictures the bike was on the outside rack because I was demonstrating it to my friend who thankfully assisted me with the hitch installation.

by:

Have used it on a 2015 Audi Q5 with an aftermarket Curt 2" hitch.
LOVE it! We were looking for the longest tongue that we could find so that when stored upright, it wouldn't hit the bumper.
With the advice of the etrailer phone rep...we got 4 place model which is what we ended up with..(we got the add-on)
Avid mountain bikers that love this setup. The model is very solid with 4 bikes! Also like how you can adjust the front wheel cradle so that the bars won't rub on other bars/seats. Heavy when you lower the rack "loaded" to open hatchback, but that's what you'll deal with when going with a setup that doesn't touch the frame which is what we want and need. Much nicer than the Thule/Yakima options that other friends have. A lot better looking too!! It does slightly block the tail lights so added some reflectors for those "distracted drivers" ;-)
Highly recommend and feel price is worth it.

by:

I am very pleased with the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack. It was tough to swallow the price tag. However, looking back after purchasing more expensive bikes, and traveling several thousand miles with no issues, I can attest to the quality and durability of this product. For you Jeepers out there, you may need to extend your receiver hitch for proper clearance, depending upon the size of your tires and bikes. Just a tip.

About the Kuat NV 2.0: Buy a Kuat NV
2.0!!! Then, get the 2 Bike Add-On to carry 4 bikes. This is hands-down THE BEST rack on the market. I chose this rack after researching THULE, Saris, Yakima, and many, many others. The Kuat NV 2.0 has a professional car quality finish, is ROCK SOLID so the bikes do not move at all, has built in locks, a built in mechanic stand, and never touches your bikes. Do your research and you will arrive at the same conclusion: THERE IS NO BETTER RACK ON THE MARKET!!!

by:

I have had this rack 1 year and I would buy it again. My wife had a hip replacement and it is so easy to get the bikes loaded and going down the road. We have travel probably 5 thousand miles using the Kuat and it is very secure going down the highway. It’s nice to know that a company builds a product that is built like a tank and performs so nice. I have also bought two Curt trailer hitches from trailer and they are top notch as well.

by:

Overall very good design, well thought out and worth the money. The locking system is particularly well designed and functional and it's a clever way they have the unit fit tightly into the receiver on the car so it doesn't wobble around. The mechanism to adjust the angle also works perfectly. Only two issues I have with it: it's very heavy and assembly was a bit of chore without someone to help because it's hard to hold the pieces just so as you are fitting the bolts into place. That being said, I am happy with the purchase and if you can handle the weight, you should get one. If I could, I would give it 4 1/2 stars

by:

Love the fit and solid quality build of this bike carrier. Can't wait to try it out.
I am using this carrier for two e-bikes and I am confident that it will hold up very nicely and will have no problem holding the weight of the 2 bikes.

by:

I ordered the Kuat bike rack from etrailer.com because they had the best price. The bike rack came very quickly and it was exactly as described. Their customer service was excellent by keeping me up to date on my order. This is my 2nd purchase from etrailer and I will not hesitate to purchase again. Thanks etrailer!!

My recommendation on putting the rack together: Place the main support into your trailer hitch first, then put on all the trays and accessories. The Kuat instructions could be improved upon, but you can figure it out by looking at a picture of it fully assembled.

by:

I have a great rack! (actually my wife does) I have 5 or 6 friends that use this rack and grew weary of throwing my bike on top of the Outback. Additionally my wife has become interested in venturing off on her own and cannot put a bike on top her outback.
etrailer shipped promptly, and the product arrived in good shape, note: there were a few spots where the parts had jostled around in the box slightly and you could see some marring of the surface. This polished right out with a microfiber towel and mothers. There are a few minor nicks (I mean really minor) on the rack;but, they were there before being put in the factory packaging. Not enough to whine about just know the finish is great just not perfect.
Speaking of the finish the color matches my Outback perfectly, it actually looks like an OEM Subaru thing. Fit is good using the Hidden/Drawtite hitch clearing the hatch while tilted back easily even with 800mm bars. The locking Hitch pin that comes with the rack is 1/2" diameter instead of the normal 5/8", fortunately the hitch mentioned above has a smaller 1/2" about 12mm aft of the 5/8" hole. The hole in the rack is 5/8" but do to the snugging system on the Küat the mismatch I'd of no consequence.
Assembly is easy and someone with good mechanical aptitude should be able to do it in less than 10, an extra set of hands would be nice but aren't required. I built mine on an elevated bench and it was quick and super easy, admittedly I used power tools because I have them.
I'm looking forward to the convenience of a tray.

by:

Arrived intact and very quickly with free shipping. Easy to assemble. Feels rock solid.
Despite the warning that you cannot use with front fenders (which we discovered buried in the manual after purchasing) the front wheel retention gadget holds securely to the fork stabilizers on our mountain ebikes.
Cable locks look easy to defeat but would probably slow down a thief long enough to run into a store for 5min.
Nice design. It is clear that they put a lot of thought into the design and construction of this rack and actually tried using it before selling it.
Great upgrade from our hanger-style Yakima rack that the ebikes could barely be loaded on because of their nonstandard frame designs.
First Kuat product for me. Won't be the last.

by:

Wow!!! What an upgrade from my Thule 4 bike hanging carrier! The Thule was fine for hauling the family's bikes around town but I needed a platform to safely transport my Tri bike to events.
I couldn't be happier with Kuat and this NV 2.0 carrier. Amazing etrailer customer service with Cathy T and absolutely the best price! Super fast free shipping too. I ordered Wednesday afternoon and she arrived ahead of schedule on Saturday. (That's right, this rack is so sweet I gendered it.)
Easy to follow instructions, sweet looks and a secure platform leaves me with absolutely ZERO buyers remorse.
I began my search for a platform carrier at the cheap end of the scale. After a quick study I became convinced that Kuat was my best option. And etrailer made it possible for me to stretch my budget into a FIVE STAR Kuat rack!
Special Thanks to Cathy T for helping with a billing issue that required a few calls!

by:

I have no bike rack envy ever!!!
This
is the best and well thought out design

by:

I did a lot of research on tray racks and had narrowed it down to Thule, 1up, and Kuat. Then I started looking at what other riders were using. I didn’t see any 1ups where I ride, but I did see a lot of Thules and Kuats. Thule owners are happy with their racks but Kuat owners are FANATICS! Nearly every Kuat owner was a “brand ambassador.” So far this rack had really lived up to the hype....I guess I am now a Kuat brand ambassador too!
(Assembly tip: assemble upside down and use foam or pillows to prop up center piece as you align the arms.)

by:

This product arrived quickly, in good condition, and all steps were well-communicated by etrailers.com. This product seems pretty well-made and I added a Kuat Pivot to assist with swinging our 4 bikes out of the way. Very well thought out products overall and we look forward to using it for years to come with our travels. Wish we knew that that Nv 2.0 and nv 2.0 add-on each came with a child bike adapter. I had separately ordered 2 from Kuat for my kids and had to eat the shipping costs on the whole return.

by:

Fantastic bike rack. Switch it between a Honda Ridgeline and a Subaru Outback Wilderness and it works perfectly.

Accidentally lost the locking pin that secures the rack to the trailer hitch and when I inquired with Kurt about ordering a replacement lock keyed to match the locking cables on the rack and the Kuat rep sent one to me for free. (I removed the rack and left the lock sitting on my car bumper. Later that day I drove off and lost the lock on the highway).

The best bike rack option we have for expensive carbon fiber frame bikes is the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack part # NV22B for 2" or part # NV12B for 1-1/4". The NV holds the bikes by the wheels so there will be no chance for damage to the frame and it comes with locks for both the bike rack and bikes so there will be a decreased chance of theft. It works with tire sizes up to 3" so there will be no problems here either and it comes with a really nice finish.

Instead you would want to use the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # NV12B, which is the correct option for the 1-1/4" hitch that you have on your 2019 Subaru Forester. While we have not had a chance to try and shoot a video of the # NV12B (1-1/4"), we do have a video of the # NV22G (2"). The # NV12B (1-1/4") and the # NV22G (2") have the same clearances, the difference is...

  • Comparing The Kuat NV 2.0 Base To the Kuat NV 2.0
For your 2014 Prius V, the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" Hitches - Tilting - Aluminum - Metallic Black # NV12B or the Kuat NV 2.0 Base 2-Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" Hitches - Tilting - Aluminum - Matte Black # BA12B will allow you to open the rear gate of your Prius. The tilting functions will give you a little additional space to let you load and unload cargo. The difference between these two bike racks is that the Base model does not come with the repair stand which can...

  • Comparing the Kuat Sherpa and NV 2.0 Bike Racks
The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack like part # SH12P and Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack like part # NV12B are both excellent bike rack options. I know you will be happy with either but the NV is the nicer of the two as it has a built-in bike repair stand, will allow for wider tires (with adapter), and can be used with heavier bikes. The Sherpa is however lighter so it will be easier to get on and off the vehicle. If this is not what you were looking for please just let me know.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Compatible Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2020 Mazda 6
The hitches available for a 2020 Mazda 6 are a Class I with a 1-1/4 inch receiver tube. For a Kuat NV 2.0 that will work in that hitch, you'd want to go with either # NV12G in Gunmetal Gray or, # NV12B for Metallic Black. You cannot go wrong with any Kuat bike rack. They make a super-high quality product and their customer service and attention to detail is outstanding. The Curt # C11356 is a confirmed fit for your 2020 Mazda 6. You will also need the stabilizer strap # 18050 for use...

  • Will Trailer Hitch Installation on 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata Void Warranty
You are actually covered by the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which states that if something breaks on your vehicle and you take it in for warranty repair, the dealer must honor your warranty unless whatever modifications you have added to your vehicle actually caused the problem in question. This means that unless the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11435 that you referenced is the reason that you are needing repairs on your 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata the dealer has to honor the warranty. If you...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Bike Carrier for 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon
For your 2016 Outback, I recommend starting with a 2 inch hitch receiver like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13206. This will give you a great option compatible with most bike racks as well as other accessories. For your bike rack, there are a wide variety of compatible options, so I've linked the page to assist. If it were me, I'd go with a tilt away option to give you cargo access and a platform style for support. I really like the .Kuat NV 2.0...

  • Can Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack Be Used to Carry Two 52 lb E-Bikes
The Thule T2 Classic Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH9045 will work great for your application, but you'll need to remove the batteries from your e-bikes. Since this rack has a max weight capacity of 100 lbs and your bikes weigh in at 52 lbs it's always best to be safe than sorry, especially when expensive bikes are involved. Attached is a review video for you to check out! If this doesn't work out for your application we have the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # NV12B you can use instead....

  • Can Kuat NV Bike Rack be Used with 2019 Honda Accord
Kuat actually makes a version of their Kuat NV 2.0 that fits Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches like the hitches that fit your 2019 Honda Accord such as the Curt # C11525. For that you'd just need the # NV12B and you'd be set! The reason Class III hitches aren't available for your vehicle is that Class III hitches are normally only used on higher capacity vehicles like trucks and SUVs. I attached a review video for the Kuat for you to check out as well.

  • Is There a Fold Up Platform Rack Option with a Ramp for Loading Bikes?
That is a great idea and there is a market for it but we haven't won the manufacturers over with that option yet and we can't add anything to their products without a warranty issue. We haven't seen a ramp for the Saris SuperClamp EX 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # SA4025F but there is another option with the fold up platform rack you may want to consider. The Access Ramp for Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack # ANVBRB is compatible with # NV12G, # BA12B, # NV12B, and...

The trailer hitch receiver that has the best bumper and ground clearance for your 2018 Mazda 3 hatchback is going to be the option from Draw-Tite: - Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24914 When we test fit this hitch on an '18 Mazda 3 hatchback we found the distance from the hitch pin hole to bumper was a mere 2-1/2 inches and the distance from top of the receiver to the ground was 11-1/4 inches. Both of these carriers secure the bike by the wheel and also tilt back for access to the trunk on most vehicles. You can certainly upgrade to a 2" receiver such as the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2" # e98847. However, the 1-1/4" receiver you currently have on your...

  • Why Can't The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack Be Used With A Class I Hitch
Class 1 hitches do have the 1-1/4 inch opening but they are rated for lower weights and pressures than a class 2 or 3 hitch. At most a class 1 hitch can have a max tongue weight of 200 pounds. It is simply not safe to have much weight on them. The hitch reciever opening will also be weaker and unable to handle the stress of some accessories even if they are not "heavy" they may put more leverage and stress into it causing warping or structural failures. That is why the Hollywood Racks...
