Kuat NV2.0 Hitch Bike Racks for 2-Inch and 1-1/4-Inch Hitch Receivers

Question:

I know that the Kuat NV2.0 will hit the street at the bottom of my steep driveway when I back down, because the bumper already lightly touches. For this reason, I am planning to have a custom made hitch that will rise up higher behind the bumper. In order to do this prior to purchasing the rack, I will need to know exactly how far the rack will stick out past the end of the hitch receiver when loaded with two bikes, and also what the existing rise is of the NV 2.0. I might be able to simply use a standard hitch riser, or I might need to have a specific fabrication for my purposes. I am leaning towards a fabrication, so I can go with a 2inch receiver, as I tend to think that the rack will wobble less when driving down the road with a larger contact area at the receiver. Your thoughts?

On the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # NV22G for 2-inch hitches the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole in the shank to the rear-most part of the rack when it is in use is 33-inches. The rack has a height rise in its shank of 3-1/2-inches to help with ground clearance.

I presume that the hitch you're considering having fabricated will be on your vehicle, and NOT on a camper, trailer or motorhome. This is important since this excellent Kuat carrier is not rated for use on any type of RV. It is intended and suitable for use only on vehicles like cars, trucks and SUVs.
