Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035-426 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for fifth-wheel trailer hitches on the Ford F-150 trucks. Now this part is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2004 to 2014 Ford F-150 trucks, all bed sizes, and on a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle, and it will show you if this will work for your application. Now these 10-bolt base rails are what will sit in your truck bed. They do provide the necessarily attachment points for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The semi-custom brackets right here is what will mount beneath your truck bed. They provide the attachment points for these fifth-wheel rails.

Now these mounting brackets are specifically designed to fit your Ford F-150. Now the base rails themselves, they are compatible with fifth-wheel hitches by Kirk Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley brands and most standard fifth-wheel hitches. They will not fit the Reese Elite Series or Valley UBS hitches. All these parts you can see are a sturdy steel construction. They have a nice black, powder coat finish to them to help resist corrosion. This part will include everything shown here all on the table.

The two 10-bolt base rails, the universal brackets, the semi-custom brackets, all the hardware needed for all those brackets, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything, but that should do it for the review on the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for fifth-wheel trailer hitches on the Ford F-150 trucks.

  • Drilling is Required to Install Universal 5th Wheel Installation Kit # RP30080 on a 2010 Ford F-150
The Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit, # RP50081, requires the 10 bolt rails, # RP58058. They will not be compatible with the 4 bolt rails, 30095. In terms of Reese rail products, there are 2 possible options for brackets and rails. First is the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426. This includes the 4 bolt rails and special brackets compatible with them. This kit does require some drilling to mount the brackets. It sounds like he has the 10 bolt rails and the universal brackets...

  • Will An RBW X-16 Fifth Wheel HItch Fit Into a Reese Install Kit like Part RP50081-58
It may be compatible. Both the Custom Install Kit RP50081-58 and the Semi-Custom Kit part # RP30035-426 are compatible most RBW hitches, but some will not fit properly. If you write back with model of RBW hitch you have, I can verify whether that particular hitch is compatible.

From what I found the PullRite SuperGlide 2700 is one of the models that fits industry standard above the bed rails. Semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426 does come with industry standard rails so it will fit the hitch and your 2013 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 foot bed.

We can help you with the specific replacement parts you need for your 5th wheel hitch installation. For the base rail kit you referenced, part # RP30035-426, the replacement installation hardware kit is part # 58164. This replaces the hardware only. If you also need the four black under-bed brackets then instead you can use kit # RP30439. If you need a pin kit to secure your hitch to your base rails you can use # 6014. If you need a 5th wheel wiring harness for the truck bed you can use...

  • Position of 5th Wheel Rails in a 2011 Ford F-150 5-1/2 Foot Bed Using Semi-Custom Kit RP30035-426
If you are using semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426 on your 2011 Ford F-150 then measure from the rear edge of the bed (not the tailgate) forward 29-5/16 inches. This is where the back edge of the rear rail will be. With the rear rail in position you would then use the hitch in the rear rail to locate the position of the front rail. I have included links to the 2 sets of instructions for this kit for you.

  • Difference Between Fifth Wheel Installation Kits For 2013 Ford F-150 With 8 Foot Truck Bed
There are a couple differences between the installation kits you mentioned for your 2013 F-150. The # RP30035-426 kit is a semi-custom installation kit that requires drilling into the truck frame. This is a more labor intensive installation and it takes quite a while longer to install the base rails. Installation of the # RP50081-58 kit is much easier and requires much less drilling as it uses the holes inthe truck frame to install the brackets. The installation of the # RP56006-53...

We do have an installation kit that will work with your Husky EZ roller and your 2011 Ford F-150 Super Cab w/ 5.6 bed. You will need the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, RP30035-426. In addition to the installation kit, it is required to use a Sidewinder King Pin, so that you have clearance to make sharp turns since you have a 5-1/2 foot bed. This will give you the standard 43 inch rails with custom brackets so you don't need to drill into your truck frame. It will utilize pre-existing holes in the frame for a strong and secure fit. Another option is to use the # RP30035-426 which will also give you the brackets specific to your vehicle. This is better than the most economical and...

First, before doing anything else, you will need to look at the pin box on the trailer. There should be a plate or sticker somewhere on the pin box that lists that manufacturer and model number of the pin box. Because of where the brackets for most air bag kits install on your 2005 Ford F-150 King Ranch Super Crew you will need to use a semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426. Due to the short length of your truck box, Convert-A-Ball does not recommend using the Cushioned 5th Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216. The manufacturer does not recommend this item for use in truck beds shorter than 6 feet in length. The problem with towing a fifth wheel with a short bed pickup is the clearance between the fifth wheel and the rear of the truck cab. There is a danger of the trailer loft striking the rear of the truck cab during turns. Your best bet would...

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for an RBW Lil Rocker and 2007 Ford Supercrew 6.5 Foot Bed
I cannot recommend using the RBW rails with another brand installation kit because they have not been tested together. However, we do know that the RBW Lil Rocker will fit in the Reese 5th wheel rails. So what I recommend is going ahead and getting a kit that you know is compatible and avoid any compatibility issues. The semi-universal kit for the 2007 Ford F-150 with 6.5 foot bed is # RP30035-426. If you want to go with a custom kit for an easier and quicker install, go with # RP50081-58....

  • Where Do Fifth Wheel Rails Install in Bed of 2005 Ford F-150 5-1/2 ft Bed
When installing a semi-custom fifth wheel rail kit in your 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed like the Reese Kit part # RP30035-426 the rear edge of the rear rail needs to be placed 29-5/16 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed. Once that rail is placed the front rail is placed with a fifth wheel hitch. Basically you'd put the rear legs of the hitch in the rear rail and then wherever that places the front rail is where it needs to install.

First, regarding the position of the hitch relative to the rear axle, it should NOT be 1 inch behind the rear axle. The centerline of the hitch should be either centered over the rear axle or slightly in front of it. Behind the axle the capacity diminishes and the weight of the trailer can cause the front of the truck angle up slightly affecting steering, braking, and visibility. If the hitch is centered over the rear axle and you have 30 inches now from the center of the axle to the...

  • Does a Short Bed Truck Need a Slider if the Trailer has Max Turn Technology
From the research I did it looks like trailers that have the Max Turn Technology don't require that the truck towing them have a slider hitch if they are a short bed. So you could use a stationary hitch then. For a hitch I would recommend the Reese 20k Hitch part # RP30081 that you referenced. This is a great hitch at a great price. Check out the review video for more info. For a rail kit I would recommend the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426.

You really need the additional turning clearance that the Sidewinder provides. It's possible you are using the wrong wedge with your current hitch and that's why it's hard to connect to your trailer.
