For your 2005 Ford F-150, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50081-58. This will give you the standard 43 inch rails with custom brackets so you don't need to drill into your truck frame. It will utilize pre-existing holes in the frame for a strong and secure fit.

Another option is to use the # RP30035-426 which will also give you the brackets specific to your vehicle. This is better than the most economical and universal kit that requires drilling # RP30035.

For a wider and easier to install base rail, you can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56006-53. This kit uses 48 inch long rails with outboard brackets to give you more room for the installation which makes it much easier. All of these kits will give you the standard 5th wheel measurements of 22 inches on center and 10, 20-1/2, and 29 inch wide slots. I've attached a photo to assist.

All of these rails are compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley, Husky and other manufacturers with the 4 tab hitch base.
