Today we're going to be taking a look at the Custer 4-LED Strobe Light or Running Light. Now this light features two functions, it can be used as a running light or it can be used as a strobe light. We've seen these on trucks, trailers, semi-cabs and a few other applications. It's a really nice design, very bright light output. It's going to feature 4-watt LED's that are very long-lasting and energy efficient, three-wire design. This wiring option let you choose when your lights will strobe or remain solid.
Your white wire is your ground wire, your black wire is for that steady light function, and then the red wire is for strobe light function. The unit's going to feature a durable impact resistant polycarbonate lens that allows exceptional light transmission, it's going to feature a nice polished aluminum base that's attractive and very durable. It's also going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion, and then it's going to come with that plastic bracket that's included for easy mounting. It's got the cut-out, so that way you can feed your wires out of there and keep that flush mount design. When it comes to the dimensions the dimensions I took are with the light on the bracket, so the overall length I got a measurement of about 5-3/16 of an inch, the overall height from the mounting area I got a measurement of about 1-3/4 of an inch, and then the overall width at the mounting base got a measurement of about 2-1/4. The mount holes on this unit are separated apart from one another on the center by 4-1/2 inches. Mounting hardware is not included, so that will need to be provided separately.
This is designed to be used on systems from 10 volt to 30 volt, power draw is at 0.5 amps. Again, it's a really nice design; it is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power, that way you can see what it looks like with sone power running to it. We'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a lower light setting. So, again, our white wire is our ground wire, black is going to be for that constant. Turn that on, you can see it sends out a really nice bright signal. Then the red wire would be our strobe. See that pattern that it has there. I bought two of these from a different electrical supply company not knowing etrailer offered them and they worked well but when one of them failed I took a shot and looked on etrailer and they had them and at a much more reasonable price for the EXACT same light
I have four of these running off one switched circuit. Many hours on them and
no failures. Will buy again.
