This water-resistant cargo bag is perfect for carrying extra gear on the road. Rightline Gear's Ace 2 car top carrier holds your cargo securely on the roof of your vehicle.

PVC-Lined Water-Resistant Fabric

Closeup of Ace 2 cargo bag material and inner PVC layer

The roof-mounted cargo bag is made of Hydrotuff material - 600-denier, woven polyester backed with a PVC inner layer that keeps out moisture. The semi-coated mesh material blocks 98 percent of UV rays to help prevent fading.

Closeup of welded seams on Ace 2 PackRight cargo bag

Welded seams help keep water out so your gear stays dry.

Under-the-Flap Zipper Placement

Urethane-coated zipper on Ace 2 cargo bag

This bag's zipper is protected under a flap, so it is sheltered from the rain.

Ace 2 cargo bag unzipped on top of vehicle

The zipper also runs three-quarters of the way around the roof bag, so you can easily load up the bag or access your gear.

Roof Rack or Bare Roof Mount

The Ace 2 cargo bag can be used with either a roof rack or cargo basket or on a bare roof.

Rightline Bag on Side Rails

Just attach the bag to your side rails, crossbars or cargo basket using the four included straps. The attachment straps thread through D-rings on the bag for added security.

Rightline Bag on Naked Roof

Or if you have a bare roof, you can hook the included car clips to the door frame weather molding and thread the attachment straps through the D rings on the four corners of the bag. Your car doors will close easily over the straps.

This kit includes clips that attach to the bag straps and then hook over the ledges or rain gutters at the tops of your doors. A roof protection pad (RL100650 - sold separately) is available to keep the bag from sliding around and to protect the top of your vehicle from scratches.

To lock up the bag, run a Rightline locking cable (RL100640 - sold separately) through the cutouts in the zipper pulls. Then, if you want to lock the carrier to your roof, run the cable around your roof-rack rails.

I absolutely do NOT recommend this bag. Details below.

Worst bag. Ever. The bag had a lot of promise for $53! The bag seemed to be high quality with a thick outside, nice sturdy zippers, and a few great reviews, however, I must have received a dud or I was punked.

I used this bag for a two day trip from Baltimore to New Orleans with mild scattered thunderstorms. As you can see in the photos, the interior liner of the bag, that makes it waterproof, completely deteriorated which allowed copious amounts of water into my belongings. In addition to the liner deteriorating, holes were formed in the bag...holes that I could fit my fists through.

Thanks to this bag I had wet clothes, ruined books, and a few damaged electronics. I thought spending $53 on a bag would get me a quality bag. I guess I was wrong.

I love etrailer and will continue supporting them, but etrailer you need to consider taking this product out of your inventory. Seriously. etrailer, please let me know if/how I can return this bag for a refund or exchange for a better quality bag.

Side Note: Anyone who has this bag, be sure to bind the zip pulls together by intertwining the pulls -- this will ensure the bag will not open because of the wind causing the bag to flap and slowly pry open the bag.

Very Pleased with the performance. Drove from Pennsylvania to Arkansas 900+ miles through winter storm Helena. I used it with the Non-Skid Pad on a 2016 Honda Civic, bare roof. Everything stayed dry, no water leakage anywhere. It was roomier than I had expected, I managed to get a twin size futon, memory foam mattress topper, quilts, blankets & afghan, a husband pillow and a couple throw pillows in it, granted everything was compressed and tied tight, but it fit easily. My only ONLY negative is with the straps, I was not able to get them tight enough to suit so I added 2 additional (the blue ones) straps with ratcheting closure. All straps went through the car with no problem and the carrier did not budge! I did duck tape the front edge of the non-skid mat to keep it from flapping in the wind and making noise.

by:

Very durable and well made product that has held up well over long distance trips in summer rain and winter snow (about 7000 miles in total). It has developed some small holes where it was chafing with the rack basket hardware due to my own fault, but I would definitely buy another one. It fits a ton and is great for extra vehicle storage when needed and folds up small when not being used.

by:

Excellent for what I needed it for we traveled a little over 700 miles round trip two times and never had a issues ..

by:

I bought this roof top carrier to take my son to Oregon. When we stopped for our 3rd night I noticed one of the straps was ripped off. Luckily I had eXtra tie downs. When we emptied the bag I noticed the inside of the bag was disintegrating. By the time we got to Eugene the bag was worthless and we threw it out.
The hitch I bought worked well. We had a bike rack on with 2 bikes and that's pretty much all its used for.

by:

Loved it until I notice 2 of the tie down points on it started ripping. Thankfully it was on our way back home because we hit rain and got some of the luggage wet.

Roof bag ripped the first time I used it. Wouldnt tell anyone to waste their money.

by:

This bag worked perfectly for our 2500 mile drive to and from Florida. Very easy to use and the service at Etrailer is amazing! I called several times for help and each person I spoke to was very helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this roof carrier and Etrailer!

by:

I'm very pleased with this cargo bag. Has easily handled several long-range trips. Probably better quality than I was expecting. I would buy this item again. Shipped promptly. Good followup by etrailer.

by:

It's not as great as a pod. And don't recommend using in the rain. It did leak a lot when we used it returning from Christmas from my paren'ts. So got home with a roofbag full of wet clothes.
Had no issues with it in dry weather. I usually just put soft gear in it like clothes, sleeping bags/pads.

by:

We used this the weekend after it arrived for a 600+ mile road trip. The mounting instructions help to clarify the strap configuration, and the bag itself is quite roomy. We did not encounter precipitation so I cannot attest to its water-tight attributes, but it did the job well and we are happy with the purchase.

by:

Arrived in good time. Easy to pack and attach to the car (using enclosed directions) even though I don't have a roof rack. Didn't encounter any rain, but it looks sturdy enough and well-made to withstand some serious downpours.

by:

Bag worked well thru heavy rain and all stayed dry inside. Straps and buckles were not that good and did not hold. I ended up using my own ratchet straps instead.

by:

They fit perfectly on my crossover. The instructions where easy to follow and took no time at all to install. This allowed my son and I take my wife on one last special trip together. Great products, thanks so much.

by:

Great product! Holds a lot of gear! Everything stayed dry even though we drove through some heavy downpours! Would gladly recommend this product!

by:

Pretty fast delivery, I was ordering it on Saturday night and got it at my door Tuesday afternoon.
I am planning to use it for a trip to Canada. It looks like it fits good on top of my Jeep Patriot.

Still working great and still keeps my items dry in the heaviest rain

by:

Grain of salt this review. I used it once. It was great the one time I used it. I haven’t used it since then. I’m confident it will work next time too

by:

We used it to go camping and we were
able to put all of our clothes and blankets in the bag and we had room for extras. It worked great and we were very happy with it. This is a great product and we are very happy with it.

by:

Works well, but we did have a bit of a leak during a very hard rainstorm.

by:

The lining came out and everything got wet on the first trip

by:

Great product at a competitive price.

  • What is the Most Economical Way to Transport a 15-20 Cubic Foot Cargo Bag on a 2019 Honda CRV?
I have a great solution for you. Unfortunately, we do not have a 20 cubic foot cargo bag that is designed to fit your bare roof. In order to have a 20-foot cargo bag like the GearBag 4 # HCR628, you will need to get a rooftop cargo basket like the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket - Steel - 62" Long x 39" Wide # Y07070-74. With the LoadWarrior, you will need a complete roof rack system. However, that system will be far from the most economic option. For a great economical way...

This rackholds 15 cf of cargo space, a little morethan the Rola that you referenced and would do an excellent job as a roof rack for your trip. I also recommend a protective pad, # RL100650, to protect the roof when using the bag. I attached a review video for this bag for you to check out as well.

  • Bike Rack, Hitch and Roof Cargo Bag Recommendation for 2017 Mercedes GLC300
Since you said price is a factor your best option will be a hitch, hitch bike rack, and then a cargo bag that can attach to a naked roof. There's no "cheap" way to accomplish all of it, but if you go with a roof rack, a roof bike rack and cargo bag it will cost more. For a hitch the Curt part # C13290 is the best option. For a high-quality bike rack that does not break the bank the Hollywood Racks # HR200Z would be the best option. It'll be super stable for a 10-hour road trip. See test...

  • Roof Mount Cargo Bag for a 2002 Honda Accord Sedan
First I would like to point out that straps that run through the vehicle interior might allow water in but they might not. It is situational and depends on a lot of factors. I don't know what you budget is but the Rightline Ace, # RL100A20, has got to be well within it. And this bag boasts 15 cubic feet of storage space. By comparison, cargo box # INBRA1150BK also has 15 cubic feet of storage space. So 15 cubic feet is a decent amount of space. I know you are on a budget but I would...

The Rightline Gear Ace 2 Rooftop Cargo Bag - Waterproof - 15 cu ft - 44" x 34" x 16" # RL100A20 doesn't have a specific speed limit based on the method you choose to install it. As long as you secure it properly inside your vehicle it's not going to slip back. Basically you would be fine as long as you don't exceed the posted speed limits. The strap would hang down from the head liner though as it will basically go from the top of one window opening to the other. You'd have to position...

The Rightline Ace Rooftop Cargo Bag # RL100A20 that you referenced is a great choice for vehicles like the 2003 Saab 93 that do not have roof hardware to secure a cargo bag. This water-resistant unit when loaded measures 44 x 34-inches (and 17-inches tall). The 34-inch width should be fine on this vehicle and a quick check with a measuring tape will give you a good sense of how it will fit.
