Roof Mount Cargo Bag for a 2002 Honda Accord Sedan

Question:

Taking his kids camping, and the budget is really tight... Which cargo bag do you recommend on a naked roof? I am aware that the straps inside the car let water in, and reduce headroom, but purchasing a rack or clips isnt in the budget. Which do you recommend?

First I would like to point out that straps that run through the vehicle interior might allow water in but they might not. It is situational and depends on a lot of factors.

I don't know what you budget is but the Rightline Ace, # RL100A20, has got to be well within it. And this bag boasts 15 cubic feet of storage space. By comparison, cargo box # INBRA1150BK also has 15 cubic feet of storage space. So 15 cubic feet is a decent amount of space.

I know you are on a budget but I would be remiss in my duties if I didn't offer car clips # RL100600. Using these will make it so that you do not have to run the straps through the interior of the vehicle. And another useful item is the protective pad # RL100650 which not only protects the roof but also helps keep the bag in place.

The bag, clips, and pad are going to be under 100 bucks (not including the cost of shipping)!

I also recommend checking with the vehicle owners manual for your 2002 Honda Accord and/or Honda to determine the roof weight carrying capacity prior to loading.
