Recommended Roof Rack, Roof Bag, and Bike Carrier for 2015 Toyota Prius

Question:

We are going to Mammoth mountains in CA at Christmas and as we will be taking three dog we need to create storage space on the rooftop of our Prius 2015 no sunroof. Jut need a basic rack on which we can put a roof bag soft sided or hard to store clothes, boot etc. Want to also be able to attach a bike down the road. What do we need to buy? Preferably a system that locks.

For your roof bag, I recommend the Rightline Gear Ace 2 Rooftop Cargo Bag # RL100A20. This is a very nice bag with a 3/4 opening zipper for loading and unloading as well as a flap over the zipper to keep water out. You may also want to consider a wheel mounted step like # HE4040 to make loading easier.

For your bike rack, I recommend the Malone Pilot TC ST Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount - Clamp On - Aluminum # MPG2103. This is a wheel mounted carrier that has a locking arm and is compatible with your square bar roof rack.

Whenever using a roof mounted system you will want to stay within the limitations of your roof capacity as recommended by the manufacturer or the 110 lbs of the roof rack, whichever is less.
